millis requires 1 year however my opinion that is not enough experience to train someone I mean afterall I think at 1 year I know I don,t know enough to train someone else although I realize the money is good

I agree, the more experience the better. I think I would be more comfortable learning from someone who has pretty much been in every situation you may encounter while training. That being said, I understand it's not rocket science and like you pointed out, the pay is better!

I'd be lying if I said money wasn't a motivator, but I wanted to try it out and see if I liked it. I feel like a lot of the accidents our drivers had this winter are somewhat due in part to sub-par trainers, so I wanted to try and do my part to contribute to bettering the program. So far it's going we'll, but I have a great student who seems like a natural.

Could have sworn it was only 6 months. I remember talking to someone who was a trainer at 6 months. They could have changed it since then. But i also agree if i got assigned a trainer that only had a year of experience i would throw a fit. I have over a year and i wouldnt even think of telling someone else how to drive.

The training requirement is one year. Imagine some other companies where you can train after a month!

Well. I've been driving a year, when my student got in my truck he:
    Could not shift
Didn't know how to drive in the mountains
    Knew very little pretrip
    Knew NONE of the qualcomm
    Didn't know how to fuel
    Was having issues parking.

Now he can do all of that very well and just passed his state CDL exam the first try with only one point deducted.

Some people are not meant to be trainers some are and even the best trainer is going to get a dumb ##### student once in a while that can't learn anything.

Obviously the longer you do something, the more you can contribute to advice, stories, etc. Comparing a driver with 1 year of experience vs. a driver with 5, sure thats more. Don't mean 5 yrs can do any better. I've seen 20 yr veterans thinking they're all that over a 5 yr and still calling them rookies. The longer your doing something, the more comfortable you become and thats how incidents occur. I've seen 20 yr vets not care how they drive or do their job vs. less experienced (even the rookies) actually care. You can have all the experience in the world and not be as efficient as a 1 yr driver. In other words its how you were trained as to how you will do the job and pass it on. Besides, at least Millis requires 1 yr, Werner requires only 6 months. At least have a season of driving under your belt before trying to give advice on certain things.
