I am doing some research on carriers so I can come up with a list of carriers I want to apply to while getting my CDL.

From reading the forum the only negative comment about Averitt that seems to come up with any frequency is low miles.

Lots of people talk about how good the health benefits are and that is one of the major reasons they stick with Averitt, but I don't need health insurance, I am going to stay on my wife's plan. So getting the miles is important to me.

What has been your experience? What are you running and what do you average?

Go with tankers as a first choice.
    Then as second choices:
    Abilene Motor Express
    Waggoners Trucking Co.
    Tyson Foods
    Magnum Ltd.
    Milan Express
    Pride Transport
    Earl Henderson Trucking
    Freymiller
    USA Truck
    Navajo Express

I think the low miles come from being home every week. I also think that if you want to stay out longer they will let you.

I can't speak for every Averitt driver but I get 2500-2800 miles a week home on weekends... I sometimes get 3000 and still home on weekends, you have the option to stay out and run weekendsif you want to not mandatory totally up to you..

To be honest it all varies, some weekends on Fri some on Sat morning early before noon, normally leave out early Monday morning or if your not under a load already you might leave out later monday... there is really no set time.

    bamamac Thanks this.

I have done real well getting 25-2800 per week now. I do stay out to just reset every 7-8 days more times than not due to having to support what my wife cannot make until her social security kicks in.
