Applying for jobs with new CDL, I could not help but notice that every single one asks about military experience.
I thought of several possible reasons why this is so.
1) Companies value behaviors emphasized in military - obeying orders, working with risk, etc.
2) Diversity points for hiring veterans
3) Ability to use various federal/state veteran programs.
Maybe there are more. With 11 years of active duty, I would like to understand the terrain, so any comments would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I figured it likely must be something like that rather than anything about the individual, especially given the unanimity.
Nonetheless, that tax break can work to my advantage.
Thanks for the info. -

It's about job discipline and can-do attitude.
`
A can-do attitude is a positive mindset that believes anything is possible if you put your mind to it. It is a belief that gives you the motivation to overcome any obstacle through hard work, effort, and creativity. A can-do attitude focuses on solutions rather than problems and emphasizes the importance of taking action to achieve your goals.Texas_hwy_287, 201 and lual Thank this. -
I never bring up my service unless asked or getting discounts. When someone says : thank you for your service" it catches me off guard. I feel like saying " gosh, it twarnt nuthin "
Really I did 4 yrs in the navy in the late 70s when I got to boot camp Vietnam ended. No wars on my watch. The enemy knew better.

We let go of an Army guy. Worst attitude and job discipline. Young guys don’t understand how hard it is to get 100k a year job with a fresh CDL.

BBC made a documentary about Olongapo/Subic in 1988. Navy cooperated fully with it. I knew a number of guys who married bar girls and more than 30 years later, most remain married and had a very successful union
