Lots of Soldiers owe their lives to the toughness of those things, could Take a roadside Bomb and Still Make it back to base.. and many did just that.

I can Imagine a Bulldozer outfit would LOVE to have a Truck like that.

Part of convoy pulled into where I was parked. The rest were rolling north while I was heading south. Fuel tankers, generators on wheels, humvees and more , I was a little awed as usual, they were up to something, more then likely the norm..

What's their top speed ? Are they geared low ?

That's a 916A4 if my fading memory hasn't let me down. 5 speed Allison auto, tops out at about 56 unless someone has gotten into the DDEC

never got much over 50mph because of always being in convoy...when I was in Korea in mid 90s, I passed everything in my M915 international day cab...never much looked at the speedometer...was fearless back then...it had a 16 speed slapstick, half auto tranny...i think the guys at humphreys were limited to 50mph, but i was up in youngson, so we did what we could get away with...but even the M930 tractors would do 60mph with a dozer or 5000 gallons of water, just took them a while to get up there...

  10. Short trailers and heavy units. Would be good at the house. Very doubtful on the big road.

    But cool non the less

That's kind of what I thought, around the ranch or farm however, the military does it. I havent seen any with sleepers yet. I get the impression large companies would rather employees followed the example set by military convoys.
