Lots of farm pick up milk tankers run chains in the winter time…have to get the milk daily as the farm doesn’t have storage for two days worth of milk. Transport tankers can chain up if needed.
Milk driver $450 a day !?!

I want to recession proof my life.
I have an opportunity to move non-hazmat and hazmat in Iowa for T.E.X. Transportation Express. Never ever touched a tanker trailer. Shipper pumps it off the trailer. Is it a good recession proof move. T.E.X. says it is.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
I was thinking milk was recession proof more than just tankers. Milk is a staple of the American diet. You might only be able to afford to Drive to the store once a week but while you're there you'll pick up an extra gallon of milk to tied you over.
I just don’t know anything about the milk hauling industry. Anyone with more information please chime in.Another Canadian driver, bentstrider83 and snowman1980 Thank this. -
Anything with food is probably recession proof.

Even people with no job/money still consume milk and juice as no government wants starving kids on their watch so will always provide/pay for those essentials.
I have hauled quite a few milk loads and from that experience I would only want to do it full time if I was on hourly or guaranteed daily pay.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
For over 13 years, I hauled milk and cream, as a company driver. Cheapest trucking that I have ever done in my 59 years out here. Only reason I put up with it, I am "retired" and 99% of the time, I came right back home after delivery. As a company driver, don't you believe a word of $450 a day. You like sitting around waiting to be unloaded because of the trucks head of you or because the silos are full and they cannot take anymore until room is made. You like running heavy as hell, dodging scales and if you have to go to the farms, well more headaches, especially in the winter. Also, with the Agricultural Exemption on the HOS, you might find yourself working 24/7, but if you are going to make a living hauling milk, you better be prepared to work 24/7.
