I know this may sound like a dumb question but about what month does the snow and ice start to "go away" up in the northern states? March, April? I have been in the south my whole life so the word "snow" is non-existent almost.

This is hypothetical but just thinking about training. Hypothetically speaking, if I was to get accepted to MTI, it would be kind of scary learning to drive in snow and ice right out of the gate. I think I would like to get in 7-8 months driving experience before facing snow and ice.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

My thought is I WANT to be with a trainer during the bad weather, they have been there done that. As far as being from the south and not seeing snow I would drive in 6" of snow in the north before 1" in the south, they are prepared for the most part:biggrin_25525: I'm from the north originally and we used to have to drive on snow every day (some years). Living in NC now 3 inches schools are closed for a week.

I did think about that. It would be good to be with a trainer in those kind of conditions. I definitely agree with you here.

Yeah, if they even think it is going to flurry, schools are shut down here in Ga. If it snows or ices over, the whole state shuts down. We don't have the equipment to handle it. I don't know if any of the Millis drives got caught in that bad debacle we had here back in January. Trucks did not move on the freeways for days. I think there was a few cattle haulers that started to panic for fear of livestock dying. It was pretty bad. The bright side is that if anyone was hauling beer it stayed nice and cold!!
