I see you're on nighs bear so i'll shout at ya later.

I had bservice done while at home and once again very impressed with the way Millis takes care of there equipment and thus their drivers. We all know that steer tires are required to have 4/32" of tread depth. Well my steers had 10/32 and they replaced them with new tires with 22/32. Also th load rating of these new tires is over 7k each which ia great I just hope these new trucks have an axle to match. Anyone considering millis for employment can be confident that they are a class act.

In Cherokee, couldn't get unloaded lastnight, my appointment was for this afternoon, but they got me backed into a door now and I was told it'll be awhile. Seems like I've had at least 12 hours more than I needed on every load I've had this week and can't deliver anything early. Had a nice conversation with wolfman this am and with baritone and bear yesterday. Company sure has a lot of quality people working here. Thanks for ts and scale tip baritone and don't forget the report on mats.

Hello everyone. I'm fairly new around here, although I've been behind the scenes soaking up all the great information on this site on and off for a few years now.

I just took my written test, and have decided to finally take the plunge into driving OTR. After a lot of reading, my choices for companies at this point would be 1) Millis, and 2) Roehl.

There are a couple of concerns that I'm hoping to deal with.

First of all, was born, raised, and currently live in Minnesota. According to Millis' web site, Minnesota is not in their hiring area. I'm hoping to get around this.

Here's my situation: I was in the mortgage business for about 10 years before the real estate market had it's big meltdown. I owned my own company, and when business came to a stand still, so did my income. I ended up losing my house to foreclosure, and since then I've been staying temporarily at my sister's house. All of my stuff is packed up and in storage.

I've been thinking about getting into trucking for many years, having gone so far as to go through Schneider's school back in about 1993. I completed the school, and some business contacts talked me into going into business with them instead of going on to drive for Schneider. Anyway, the road has kind of been calling to me ever since then. Due to my current work and living situations, it seems like the timing will never be better for me to finally take the plunge and hit the road.

What I'm wondering is if Millis would be alright if I had a P.O. Box address in Wisconsin? Would this be enough to get around the hiring area problem?

My second question concerns the DOT physical. From what I've read, it sounds like all they require is for me to go out and take the physical and get my own card. If I do that, will they give me any kind of physical of their own? I'm a pretty big guy, and I've been having some problems with my knees lately. If I have a DOT card, will they put me through any other testing?

Thanks in advance for any advice you might have. :biggrin_25514:

The only problem I see about working for Millis would be home time, since you live in Minnesota I am not sure they would be able to get you home like a driver within the hiring area but I am no expert just my guess! Good luck though.

    Zangief and iceblue Thank this.
