I didn't want to post a new thread, I've noticed that some of you posting have recently went through the Millis training and school, and I had a couple of questions. I've been putting a list together based on who provides company training, and the experience of those who have went through it and Millis seems to be the company that seems to have the most positive attitude geared towards the company and you guys seem so down to earth and easy to get along with.

My main question: What is the true cost of attending the school and getting trained? I've seen it stated that it costs $5000 which confuses me as their website says $2500. The only thing I can deduce is where I take that they pay you for training it is either a loan to you while you are out on the road or that its what you pay them to have one of their drivers train you. Its not exactly clear and at this point I am still trying to get a list of questions because I'm not ready to contact them yet. I'd like to gather up my money and pay ahead of time, after I was laid off my last job my credit went absolutely terrible and I'd rather not add to my personal debt anymore than I need to.

My next question is when I am ready to call and talk to someone about it, being new to the industry, are their any questions in particular I need to ask?

Also tying into my first question, and after browsing around and deciding that you guys seem to be some of the more helpful people here(no knock on the other companies or posters here but I just enjoy get a great vibe), what are some of the things I'd need to buy for the trucking industry. I've found lists for schools packing lists around the site but nothing for when you actually get out into the truck, the only real thing in internet search I've came up with is a Motor Carrier's laminated Road Atlas. What other tools and supplies would one need when starting from scratch?

I'll try to help you out here...

    Millis School cost breakdown.
You fill out an application and get accepted (hopefully), You call Alice and put $100 down to hold a spot in class
You get to class and the first day you pay them $400
The cost of the Class is $2500
The cost for OTR training is $2500
Once you are employed with the company for a year they will knock $2500 off your debt
This will leave you with $2000 to pay in weekly $20 payments from your paycheck. Which as you can see will take you 100 weeks to pay off.

PS, while in school you can choose to stay in a hotel with another student, Millis will front the money for the room BUT you also pay that back at $10 a week from your paycheck until paid off. The good thing about sharing a room is your hotel bill is cut in half...

    I hope I helped you.

I am really to new to answer your other questions but I am very confident that Millis is one of the best training companies out there.
