I'm going to revise this a little.
Figure on 3.5 weeks at Richfield.
Minimum 15000 miles with a trainer is the new rule now. If you drive 3000 miles a week that will be five weeks minimum, and I can tell you right now that you won't be driving a 3000 mile week right out of the gate. Figure on 7-10 weeks out with your trainer.
You will be able to go home between school and training and after you get your truck if you decide to.
Good luck

Thanks Mtownz...that helps with the planning...appreciate it !

i would like to add that it would be 7-10 if you pass your first attempt at your cdl test. if not it may be a few more weeks while you get another test scheduled.
-
Yes my training estimate was based off of a first time passing score on your CDL test. Depending on where you live it is in your best interest to pass your first attempt because it can take a couple days up to over a month to retest. I feel for anyone from New York who has to retest.

Does that new rule apply across the board.

I've heard rumors about this whole 15000 mile thing. WOW. I'm glad I didn't have to go thru that when I did training. Is that 15000 for just the trainee or 15000 while in the truck. I wanted nothing more to get out of my trainers truck so I could make my own money. M wondering if there has been alot of issues with students and accidents or problems.
-
As far as I know it's 15000 miles that the student has to drive to be eligible to test out for their own truck. I imagine they've changed the rules for insurance purposes.
-
And the trainee only has to drive a minimum of how many hours a day? I hope they dont plan on changing the training pay also since it would take longer now.
-
shane i think trainees have to drive at least 4 hours for the day to count. i drove mostly 10 hours a day when i was training. we got way over 3500 miles every week.
-
they made 4 hours the minimum for times when you have slow freight but if you ask me, after the first few days, you should be driving most, if not all, of your hours! How else do you gain experience. And the last two weeks you should be doing 100% of everything. The trainer is just along for the ride at that pointHitman Thanks this.
