Does Millis allow you to drop your trailer at a truck stop when you are on home time? Just wondering because I don't think I can get a truck and trailer down my road.

Although its not strictly forbidden, its also not encouraged either. Millis prefers a private lot with written permission from the owner, preferrably secured, especially with a load, or a copy of a lease or rental agreement from a lot that is pay to park. If u drop at a trkstop, remember some key things. Secure the trailer. Either a gladhand lock or kingpin lock (greasy and yucky but effective), and make sure under anyh circumstance to have permission from the manager of the facility to drop the trailers. Many truckstops have no drop trailer policies. If the equipment is removed, it becomes ur problem, and tow bills can cost $100's plus impound fees calculated daily. If the trailer is loaded, my advice is not leave it anywhere without the tractor attached. My best advice would be, seek permission from the truckstop to leave the tractor and trailer and find a ride (if possible).

Ok thanks. Just trying to figure out my best options

where do you get these locks if needed and other than those locks what are others?

So which is better the glad hand or kingpin? I understand leaving the truck is far better. How much do those 2 cost? I can't get the it up my road either, so, I would either need to secure the trailer, find a secure spot for my personal vehicle to swap back when going home or leave my vehicle in cartersville each time I go out which mean sometimes driving an hour out of route. I'm a alittle over an hour from the terminal.

Yea that is about the same situation I am in. I am a little over an hour from Trenton

Yea I might get it up my road, but, you can forget about in my yard. Just not possible. I have a few places in mind to park at. The VFW just down the street used to allow it. Don't know if they still do. McElroy driver was till I think he quit. I don't know where I would trust my vehicle parked for 2 wks till I got back other than cville and where owner might or not complain. Driver park in places that I doubt they have permission I just don't won't to take that chance unless I have to.

Storage units, VFW or any place like it may have it, Also check if you have a decent size moving company around you. They may let you park it there as they may have a space you can rent for a little bit a month. There is a small pilot up in Cleveland TN off of 75, you can find glad hand or kingpin locks there. You can also check with cochran travel center ringgold ga they are at exit 345 off of 75. They have a large lot and I have seen dropped trailers in the back for an extended time, and the tank wash next door a company drops trailers on the back half of the lot. Would just ask the manager if they allow dropped trailers for a few days a month. You could prob. park your car there safely if you talk to them as well.

All comes down to covering yourself. Park truck and trailer at truck stop all good. Drop trailer become target for towing companies. All earlier posts great advice but CYA first.
JMD1828 Thanks this.
