Well I get my first pay CUT tomorrow (and more to come). Happy furlough of July. The next six months can't go by fast enough for me. Maybe even just five months (Dec. 1st) and the doc will clear me for normal duty work. Then...I can put my application in with Millis! Looking forward to hopefully meeting all you Millis drivers.

Happy 4th and stay safe out there this weekend.

Do any of you guys know how many employees Millis has as far as number of drivers? Also I was just curious as to the turnover rate (just for my own information). There is only a handful of you guys on TTR compared to the total number at the company. All of you on here seem to be pretty happy with Millis so I am going to assume that the turnover rate is somewhat low. This is just my little brain thinking, which is dangerous by the way.

If they keep hiring drivers on a regular basis can I assume Millis is expanding or are they losing drivers frequently? If they are losing drivers, what are some of the reasons? Again, just collecting information for my own curiosity. Anything you say here will not be used against you in a court of law!

Good question RD. Even though I'm not driving yet and I don't work for Millis. I think I can answer part of your question. I was a truck driver over 20 years ago and I do know what it's like to drive a truck. Some people jump into trucking thinking all you have to do is drive from point A to point B. Not realizing that it's not only a job but it changes your life totally. You go weeks without seeing family and friends, hours on end being alone, working long and odd hours, living in a truck weeks at a time. It's a huge culture shock to some people and some can't handle it. I would think that would be one of the top reasons for the turn over rate for any trucking company.

I think bobmack sums it up pretty well. Honestly I have no idea what the turnover rate of company is but I wouldn't hesitate to ask recruiting if its important to decision. Last I heard we had 800 trucks and around 2700 trailers.

In case any one else has a stationary seat t-600. My daughter has rode with me for 2 day's and 1,200. Miles and has no complaints about the seat or ride. Apparently we've discovered that the airride tends to throw me around a bit more. She also sleeps well on second bunk I fashioned with a mattress I asked for at the terminal. To give u an idea of her size she's 5'5" 130 lbs and would be first to whine if uncomfortable so I lucked out. If ur thinking of taking family member don't let stationary seat hold u back.

One interesting thing we decided to count blown tires our first day out and in 590 mi we found an avg of one blown every 1.86 miles. Whew that's over $100k in tire replacements. So I did my part for the company today and replaced 3 valve caps and filled 4 tires that were between 80 and 90 psi on the drop trlr I picked up today. Needless to say we were sick of counting today, but I never realized how many I saw until she started checking em off.

    rubberducky68 Thanks this.
