indianaEMT and samurai Thank this.

I may be wrong but I think they are trying to grow to fast. Seems they are cutting corner at the drivers expense to get more warm bodys in trucks
Boomer 1 Thanks this. -
exactly. They are turning into a small version of swift.
I will let you all know how my interview and road test goes tomorrow. It sucks that we were all so excited about this company and how it was different from the rest. Then it changed so fast. makes me sad.Boomer 1 Thanks this. -
How are they becoming so bad? Other drivers are talking good about them.
slim shady Thanks this. -
Best company I have ever worked for. I think the long hours make us cranky sometimes
TheyCallMeTaterSalad, slim shady and MTownZ Thank this. -
I understand where you're both coming from Samurai and IndianaEMT. It would have been nice if Millis would have told you, IndianaEMT, that even though they just gave you a "verbal warning" that it would be going on your DAC. Mistakes happen, even though we all hope to avoid them. I will definitely keep your experience in mind. I heard just last week here in Trenton, that a driver hit a turkey with his truck, and he lost his Safety Bonus even though it did very minimal damage. Sometimes things like this are just simply unavoidable. And, I'm guessing from your story, that this driver will also get a mark on his DAC. I feel bad for both of your situations, but also understand how company rules/policies work. Sometimes it's difficult to understand where the lines should be drawn. But, when you move the line a little for one driver, then the next expects you to move it a little further. It definitely makes things really tough. And, Samurai, it's too bad you can't speak directly to Mike or Dave, and get a definitive answer either way. You would think they would have an exact distance so you would know how far you can live from a terminal and remain regional.
That being said, I am still just a student and I don't even go out with my trainer until August 5th, so I know nothing really. But, I always try and look at things from all perspectives. As far as I can tell, Millis is still a wonderful company to work for when it comes to trucking. They have some of the best home time for time spent out that you can ask for when it comes to OTR drivers. They pay better than most of the "mega carriers" and other companies out there, and are among the best when it comes to someone who is just starting out. From what I've seen, if you work for the miles, there are plenty to be had for the most part. Even though some trucks have more problems, they also seem to keep their equipment top notch. I have never heard of a Millis driver in a P.O.S. rig, unless they just had bad luck and got a lemon.. And yes, I know there are cons along with the pros as with anywhere you go, but doesn't Millis have the most important things in the pros column? Am I wrong or right? I just think there are so many good things about Millis, despite some minor annoyances like you would have with anywhere you work. If it were all peaches and cream, you wouldn't be getting paid for it. I don't want to offend anyone, and I really do understand why you would be upset in your situations. If you disagree with me, I would like to know. Because, personally, I still haven't found a single company on here that has as many positive things said about them as Millis does. And, I wish everyone here the best of luck through the good and the bad times!Hegemeister and MTownZ Thank this. -
I've said all along that Millis is a great company to START with. However Millis has recently been making changes internally. Look at the dates of the posts and compare. When I started with millis there was hardly no negativity at all towards the company. Look at the posts on here that were posted 1 or 2 months ago and you'll start seeing the negatives. I am in no way saying they are a bad company to START with. But I've personally seen people get fired for lying. Then the main safety guy outright lies to all of us, (depending on where you live) hometime is more late than ontime now, when it used to never be late, the attitude of some of the workers at BRF has deteriorated, the accident and DAC reporting is BOGUS! Example I got charged $175 for being honest and reporting a $10 oops. Now they are blackmailing me to other companies. This IS NOT the same millis it was when I first started. AGAIN MILLIS IS NOT A BAD COMPANY TO START WITH. Get your year in, compare pro's and con's, if you still feel millis is a good fit then awesome if not move on, get paid more, be home more. Just FYI with a year experience OTR you should be bringing home on average $1000 a week AFTER taxes SOLO NOT AS A TRAINER. My average solo pay with millis was $600-700....
I'll step off my soapbox now.
