Hello Folks...Sorry I haven't been around here lately. Im sure a great number of you don't even remember who I am. just wanted to drop a note and let everyone know that I have turned in my notice with Millis and Tuesday August 6th will be my last day here at Millis. Im currently sitting in Richfield, WI. at the terminal where iv been sitting since Saturday evening waiting for a load out. Have been told "No Loads Available" so ill expect to get rolling again in the morning when my dispatcher returns to work and ill complete my last and final trip for Millis. I recently got married back in April and a week after the wedding I drove down to Tampa, Florida and purchased my 1st truck. So I am going out and trying new things and will see where the road leads me. The new company im going to be leased to says there will be no problem getting home more often without sacrificing my paycheck so that's all the wife needed to hear and she was sold!! so no company out here is 100% perfect by any means but Millis has been a great company to me for the 3 years I have been with them and I would recommend the company to anyone looking to get started in the industry. I feel good that after contacting my dispatcher and Reid Ransom that im leaving on good terms and was told that if it doesn't work out being an Owner Operator that they would welcome me back at any time. Im glad that I had the opportunity to drive for Millis and glad I had the opportunity to train a handful of students who are all still with the company and doing a very fine job. I look forward to staying in touch with all of you and will occasionally check back on this forum to see how everyone is doing. well until next time guys and gals, yall be safe and we will see ya on the open road!!

Shane, attitude is everything out here. Going into this career field with a victim mentality isn't going to get you far. You have a 14 hour clock to work with. If you sit for eight hours at a shipper, you still have six hours left, and you only need to drive four to get paid for the day.

I didn't have much trouble driving 4 hours when I was training but I had a good trainer that kept his eye out for me in that way. Sitting does suck but part of the business. You can only drive 11 hours a day and 70 in 8 days so it all sort of works out in the end...as long as you can get 2500+ miles a week you will get by.
