Ok. Ill keep it brief though so it doesn't get carried away in a huge run on sentence. Or at least try:)

1st the only place in the entire reg book that references "pre-trip and post-trip" is under drive-away tow-away operations(tow-trucks) reg#396:15. This includes checking assembling and dissembling your saddle mounts. Well I don't have saddle mounts and not a tow truck so I never write or now that im on electronic log use macro for pre or post trip.

Our "driver inspection(dvi ) and driver inspection report(dvir ) is under reg# 396:13 this states what must be checked(u probably inspect more than reg requires and so do I) and states that you must be comfortable that vehicle is safe(im summarizing) BEFORE Driving. Well it doesn't say at start of day so every time I stop for break, fuel etc. I note 396.13 before I go on drive line.

When I do myDVIR at end of shift I note as reg# 396:11. This way there's no confusion what I did. Would hate to be asked if I wrote post trip where I stowed my saddlemounts? Sounds funny but would be on a witness stand by one of those" Big Truck Attorneys"

When I secure my load its 393.100: if more drivers read this reg they too would be strapping there bulkheads down to remain compliant if nothing else. In my opinion it wont be more than 2 years when we start hearing about dot breaking seals on dry vans to check load securement. If im right you'll want to know the formulas in this reg.

Lastly this is a fun one. I wont tell u the reg number cause its easy to look up but question for who ever wants to be first to answer: How accurate does a CMV speedometer have to be at 50mph? At 65? At 40mph?

Hope info is helpful and not a bore but with CSA rules and regs are as important as ever in my opinion.

Yes sir. But what's the answer to those questions now that you found the reg?

I was too far from home to go home on weekends so I read the regs down near the Miami river in Trenton area since I didn't have a fishing pole.

Listen don't let my ideas jam u up in class. You'll hear pretrip and post trip all the time. Just learn what they teach you, read the regs and when you're on your own make your determination of how to run things based on what you've been taught and self learned.

The speedometer must be accurate to within plus or minus 5 mph at a speed of 50 mph.

Sully thanks for your advice, I will make every second count in training. i just wonder now, who will I have as for my instructor in the Richfield location. Everyone talks about Greg. Hopefully I'll have someone like Greg

Im sure whoever it is will be great instructor, I just hope the class is small that way more learning.

Question: Who do you talk to to set up lodging?

I talked to Alice (she so Awesome) she told me that they pay for the lodging upfront and will be deducted on your check each week but we never talked about setting it up

Ed was the instructor at Richfield. Is he no longer there? As for the lodging when you submit payment over the phone for your reservation/$500, they should ask you if you will need lodging. If you have already submitted payment I would call Alice back and tell her you need it.
