    There were some changes beginning in 2017 ( pay I believe)

    How can they make money off their schools? Cost of $ 500 up front. A contract for $ 2500 that is forgiven after 1 year with them. A contract for $ 2500 that is paid off over the first year. If there for a year total cost of $ 3000.00. During time with the trainer paid $ .42 per mile for 15000 miles or $ 6300.00. Where is this golden goose? Maybe the goal is to train people properly to be safe to retain them for years to come. Why is everything so distorted by "people in the know"? Think about it!

    If they are wanting to retain them for years, shouldn't they be wanting to retain their already experienced drivers? Starting students at a wage higher than guys who've been there 1-2yrs already doesn't exactly look good to drivers there already. Neither does sending out multiple qualcom messages teasing drivers about exciting new pay coming, and then it only being a measly .01cpm raise, and in some cases (like the GA regional driver here) it not really equaling a raise.
    Millis treated me great during my year there and I made good mone and ran hard there. But this new student pay compared to their experienced guys pay makes little sense.

    I don't know all the ins and outs of the new pay, only what's I've read, most of it on here, but I would agree. Giving more money to the guys that are already there seems like it would be a much greater incentive to reduce turnover (if that's the end result hoped for) and also be a great carrot to dangle for newer guys who can think "Hey, the starting is okay, not fantastic, but if I stay for 2 years (or whatever) I'll be making a real money"

    But like I said, I don't know to much for sure, only what I've read, and I could be totally off base.

    Look at the website. Student pay is less than experienced pay. Not unusual for companies to have varying pay for dedicated, regional and OTR. Pro's and cons to each division. Home-time vs pay.

    New drivers are not making more than experienced drivers. Look at the pay scale on their web site. I have 1 year experience but less than 2 years. I went from .37 per mile to .43 per mile straight pay. There is no longer a mileage bonus which I never liked anyway. Now I get paid the same higher rate all of the time, not just if I hit certain mileage per pay period.

    They did remove vacation pay which doesn't bother me either. Set aside .01 of that raise aside in a vacation fund and you will have $1,500 in there if you drive the average of 115,000 per year. You are then still pocketing a .05 raise. Set aside .02 and you'll have $3,000 and still have a .03 raise.

    Send Ethan, the guy in finance a QC message and ask him to email the new pay deal. That's what I did and he responded quickly. I have both old and new pay charts for both straight pay and per diem.

    Most of the people I hear complaining about not making enough money are on per diem. A friend of mine on per diem at one point last year had driven 7,000 more miles than me and I had made around the same as him.

    Don't fall for the beating the tax man per diem pitch. You can't beat the tax man. Don't give up .05 per mile, every mile, with per diem pay for an up front tax break you can claim at the end of the year anyway. Take the standard daily deduction ($59 but I believe it was raised to $62) for every day you didn't sleep in your own bed and it adds up. And no you do not have to save every receipt unless you are trying to claim in EXCESS of the standard daily deduction. If you are spending more than $62 a day you are spending way too much anyway.

    Ok thanks for the breakdown. I'm no longer with Millis because I wanted a home every weekend gig, but still been trying to stay up on whats going on there just in case I wanted to come back. My buddy who's still there said he got a .01 raise so idk. What do you mean they got rid of vacation pay? So you take your vacation now unpaid? That's rather odd.

    I beleive the no vacation pay on straight pay is for new hires. If you've been here long enough to get vacation you are grandfathered in.

    So I hear... from someone who spoke to payroll today.
