Millis OTR journal

In the "complete bollocks" category: I got a speeding ticket in Arkansas during the last safety blitz. I'm fighting it, but the court date isn't until October. Millis wants to turn my truck down to 66 now, though.

 

Ive never seen it that bad

 

It got worse. It was backed up down Bohannon by 3 or 4 trucks at one point.

 

Doesn’t affect anyone currently at Millis but they changed the whole trainee pay package. Going to be interesting to see if it helps or hurts recruitement.

 

So what did they change on that? They're on a short list for me.

 

Looks like a worse deal in my opinion. Not paying for the hotel is crazy....not alot of people getting into this industry can afford to rent a hotel for minimum 5 days a week for 3.5 weeks....the $600 in pay is going to go towards the hotel and food while in at school, and then they are getting less cpm than before....

Looks to me like a lot of re shuffling of #s to make it look ok, but no its a worse deal in my opinion.

So they must not need drivers then? I don't know why they'd make it more expensive and drop the pay too.

 

I think they are putting the upfront costs on the students. But at the same time it looks like there is no longer a one year commitment?

I’m trying to see any positives. But I know I would have been hard pressed to choose Millis 3 years ago if this was the deal.

second edit: maybe they are looking for people that live closer to the terminals?

 

Yeah this would've been a hard pass from me of this had been how it was in 2018. Especially since you now test with an automatic and get the restriction. Looks like the propellerhead bean counters are going to eff up something else. God I hate public companies.
