It really is a tough one, if I knew I would be making the money that I do now I would scrape up the money. But hindsight……

 

This looks better than the way things were in 2019 for me. I didn't get the bonuses and think it cost me about $1500 all together. Making it harder to attract new employees in an industry with almost 100% turnover and a shortage of employees doesn't make any sense to me, but what do I know?

 

Again those bonuses are eye candy. Lipstick on a pig type ####. Majority of the people coming into this industry don't have a bunch of $$ saved up to pay for a hotel and food for 3.5 wks at school. That means the "$600 pay" during school for most people is going to go towards paying for a room and feeding themselves for 3.5 wks at school.

Then yes they are giving "bonuses" but they also cut the student cpm by either .03 or .04 cpm. Pretty sure over a yr you'd make more $ with the higher cpm and no bonuses than you will with the lower cpm and bonuses.

It's the same thing Millis always does. They always just shuffle #s around to make things look better but usually it's not. While I was there everytime they gave a raise they changed how safety bonuses were paid or something like that.

One of the things that made me decide to go to Millis for training instead of the local community college was the lower up front cost. It was cheaper then to start with Millis, but those lost bonuses probably made this more expensive in the long run.

 

I found a type of truck worse to park next to than a refer - a loaded cattle truck. Between the noise and the smell I had to shut the windows and use some of that precious idle time. Glad he left too, that would have made it hard to sleep.

 

I had a first today. Was on an empty hunt was sent to Electrolux to search for an empty and the guard lectured me on my hand writing. He had me sign in my signature is naturally a scribble it works for me. But truck number clearly legible.

 

I'm so glad I brought some vice grips and duct tape with me. I haven't used most of the rest of the tools I brought with except for the wire cutters I've used a few times.

 

Heard we had a driver die from covid down in Albany yard. RIP
