Paper mill? GP if I recall. There used to be a pretty hot redheaded chick that worked in security there.

 

Yeah like I was saying it was a cluster I had a pre-plan all the way to Monday that guaranteed me about 1500 mi to Monday and instead dispatchers decided differently once I got to my original pickup which was the paper mill got to go through a fiasco and end up at the Cascades DC and now stuck here in Wisconsin with a canceled Menards load.

I think I would have much preferred the hott red head

 

At least we are having better weather than last week? -10 fighting frozen equipment two days last week. Then the thaw... then the mud....

Seems to be too much waiting at Millis and one thing i found comical when my trainer was picking a Smith drivers mind waiting for said preloaded load in Albany, GA was that the Smith driver said he didn't care if he had to wait. That he was getting $350 for the day retention regardless. I've never seen a company advertising $43.75 an hour detention pay so clearly that Smith driver while nice was prolly full of it.

I know Millis states $20 an hour detention but i didn't see a dime of that for 12 hours stuck in Georgia. Corporate in Black River stated detention pay doesn't apply to trainees licensed or not.

 

Your gonna make more getting paid yours and your trainers miles than you would for the 12 hour detention you would of got if you were on your own. Just saying

Definitely soak it up as much as you can while your with your trainer. If your good at backing challenge yourself a little more, choose the parking spots that are a little harder because you have trainer with you to guide you through it if you get stuck, it becomes a whole new beast when you go solo and it's all on you.

 

If they get rid of Seagoville, they will need to start charging for parking at Alvarado. That place is always near capacity.

Also was shocked today. I was going 85 south and South Carolina actually completed a section of 85 just as you enter SC at Blacksburg.

Again being new to the industry, terminology and such i've learned more here on these forums. I didn't realize detention was an either/or scenario in regards to trainer miles/detention. Trainer certainly put in for it. Being forced to do your 34 hour reset at some dock, waiting to be loaded and with no personal conveyance is a pretty raw deal imo. Sounds like that's pretty much trucking when new...

Backing? Oh i squeaked by. Much to learn and absorb! MIT actually helped us out in Richfield i came to discover. Him and another trainer my friend i met in training is training with have made me reconsider giving Millis another shot if any OTR company. Apparently i drew the trainer short straw, lol. MIT is a decent human being and don't let anyone here tell you otherwise.

I'm not against paying my dues but i can be a snowflake in my old age. I like to stay hydrated, fed and comfortable within reason when sleeping. These are all crucial to operating that truck safely when new. Man i'm grabbing that steering wheel so hard, not scared but vigilant i bet i'm losing a pint per hour palm perspiring alone!

 

You got my hopes up for my next wright load, but they are pretty quick there. I have dropped and hooked at superior beverage in glenwillow. For a while there we had a dropped trailer for dunnage.

 

Only place I ever remember dropping and hooking at a beer distributor was that place on Effingham, and I'm not sure if I came in there loaded or if I just dropped an empty to pick up preloaded dunnage.
