I remember this day all too well. Trailers on both sides of my door, but I managed to get it all the way in the hole the first try. I only had to pull up once to get lined up better with the dock plates. Felt good about that.
Then time passed. Keep in mind that this was pre-covid and before they had that automated check in system.. They called me and told me my load was done. I went in, hooked up to it, then drove around to the other warehouse to get my bills and seal shipping clerk asks me my destination, which was Tampa. I answered. He says "This is not where this is going.". Then he looks at all of his papers. Whoever took my check-in over the phone scrawled the number down fairly illegibly and they loaded the wrong load on me. Soooo.... That meant going back in and dropping my trailer on the door again. Wasn't so easy that time. I bet it took me a good 20 minutes and I don't even know how many pull ups even though it was the same door as before. I was so mad.wulfman75, JOHNQPUBLIC, MIT and 2 others Thank this. -
That reminds me of when I was down in Decatur AL at Meowmix and asked the spotter to pull my trailer out ( they even had some problems doing that so I didn't feel too bad( and found out the trailer was empty. They'd loaded a different trailer with the correct load, so I ended up dropping the empty trailer elsewhere before getting the right trailer. Definitely not a fun time there, but I think I got barbecue from Moe's next to the Pilot and that made up for some of the frustration

No, we just use a badge system, much easier than Heartland’s codes which change constantly and they do not always give our dispatch the new codes. It has been a downhill mess since Heartland took us over, hoping it gets better but I am skeptical.

I had a different kind of person cut too close in front of me today, a sheriff. Just goes to show how little they value the laws about doing that.

Close! Mine was 1823. I came here to see if anybody had mentioned it yet. Guess somebody's got themselves a free ride. Now they're gonna make extra sure y'all use those air locks.

Only been with new trainee a day and a half feels like a week. Guy keeps challenging me and thinks he knows everything. He drove a straight truck for 10 years. Has yet to do a decent back without my help. First back was at Molson Trenton I surprised myself by setting up the guy perfect to back between 2 trailers. Next 2 backs I let the guy set up on his own after discussing it with him. Both times he turned them into blindsides. Both times he argues they weren’t blind sides and they were sight side backs.
Get to shipper this evening he immediately jumps out and says you back it so I can see if you know what you are talking about.
Lol we were in the middle of a wide open lot and hadn’t even checked in yet. So I hopped over made a sweeping loop straightened trailer out and just did a straight back.
Guy gets an attitude and says that’s not the back I wanted you to do. Told him from the first time I talked to him when it comes to backing you use the available space you have to make it as simple as possible.
So we check in guy hops in driver seat I tell him he should just back into dock like I backed into the space to check in. It was like I was speaking Chinese. So finally he tells me to do it again. Lol I got lucky pulled out of spot went down to dock turned and went straight ahead trailer followed me and I was perfectly lined up with dock and just slow crawled it back there.dwells40, Still undecided, Nashville and 1 other person Thank this.
