I've been away from Millis 2 years. When I was there, they had "certain" guys who would do long runs to California.
Millis doesn't talk about it much. In fact, in training they told us" Millis never runs west of Texas, so don't ask."
I got one of those runs once because the guy assigned to it broke down and they needed it moved right away. Prior to that I had been told that Millis doesn't go to Cali.. When I got out to L.A. I thought i'd be the first millis there, ever! When I pulled into the lot, there were 8 other Millis trucks there.
One of the Millis drivers told me they "don't advertise" the long runs.dhellmer, firemedic2816, FalconsFan21 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Hell I've ran to Golden Colorado with Millis too from IL, and we also take loads out there from Green Bay. Gravy run out and back.dhellmer, firemedic2816, Shock Therapy and 1 other person Thank this. -

Sup y'all. I'm in Spiceland, IN for the night. Sounds like a made up city name from a Star Wars movie or something. I am thoroughly exhausted. I slept the best that I could yesterday, but I'm not used to sleeping that time of day. Plus, even with the AC cranked and the curtains closed, it was warm in the truck. I know, I know...stop being a wuss. I got up at 11:30pm, cleaned up a bit, ate some breakfast, and got rolling. I made it to the final without using a 30, just barely. It was a Millis party when I got there lol
All in all there were 5 of us there during my visit. I got unloaded and was given a load about 90 miles away heading to the Menards in Plano, IL. I picked up the load and made it about 70 miles down the road before calling it a day, with 15 minutes left on my 14. This load can deliver anytime tomorrow, and I'm shooting for 8am. This is a drop and hook, so it'll be quick, and freight will be released by then. Easy morning, and the 5 hour drive should be pretty smooth. I'll hit a little traffic around Chicago, but it'll be minimal. Pro tip for new drivers and students...when you go to a Menards DC always ask if there are outgoing loads available. That can be a huge time saver for you, and it can help your dispatcher out. There are times when you'll let dispatch know that you're empty and ready for a load, but there isn't anything available that's close. On those occasions I end up grabbing a load at the DC if I let dispatch know there are loads available. It saves your clock, and preserves freight that your dispatcher may need for another driver. Win win. Another plus in that scenario is that delivering to a Menards is like going to Walmart. They have a ton of stuff. Not huge on groceries, but they do have some. And they have everything else you could need. God I love those stores. Well, that's it for me, I'm outta gas. It's time for sleep. Be safe out there guys. Keep the rubber side down and all that. Peace.
