Yes I would hate to switch trucks when OTR. You have all your stuff set up in there the way you like it and for me anyway it helped me get thru the day knowing I had what I want and need and where it exactly was. Moving throws all that off and if I didn't have to I wouldn't.

I have a local day cab job now with an assigned truck organzied the way I want. Not nearly as much stuff but still takes me some time to switch if I have to which I occasionally do. Also each truck has its own idiocincracies and you have to relearn that. I hate switching trucks.

They tried to give me an 18 when I was in Trenton. Absolutely not. If I had to wait a long time here, they probably would have forced the issue. When my truck got fixed then they would just give it to someone else. I'm not driving one of those new trucks. No thanks.

What's up with the 2018's? What makes them undesirable?

I was lucky in that regard with the truck I was assigned. It had 155,000 on it but whoever drove it kept it immaculate. It was like brand new. It was a 2015 and I got it in late 2015.

    Automatic maybe...

@Steelersjunkie, didn’t you say once you had one of the few remaining manual trucks?

All of our trucks have cameras, which I'm sure you know. All of our trucks that are 2015 or newer also have the radar system. It's a proximity sensor, and it judges following distance. If you get too close it starts beeping and sets off the camera. Even if it doesn't beep, it can still set of the camera if you are 1.8 seconds or less behind the vehicle in front of you and remain there. The 18s have added a lane departure sensor and a speed limit sign sensor. Mine is a 2015. I'm used to what I have. I don't feel like dicking around with the new extra stuff on the 18s.
