Sup Truckerland. Hope y'all are doing well tonight. Hello from Henrietta NY. I delivered my load today in Fulton (CHA-CHING!) and was given a load that picks up in the morning about 12 miles away. My 70 is pretty much destroyed, so Opie threw me a load that allows me to reset during the trip. The best part about that is that I can do a reset at home. My pickup time is from 5am to midnight tomorrow, which is a very forgiving time frame. Because of that, I decided to slide next door for a meal and a couple beers. Once loaded, I'm only 6-ish hours from home. I'll head back out Sunday morning and head for Cartersville. My delivery is on Monday, and also has a very wide window. Gotta love it. Even with my screwy hours, this has been a great week. Certainly better than it could have been. I'll be sitting on 2800 even with a reset, so that's fantastic. No complaints here for sure. Good lookin' out, Opie, I appreciate you. I'll have time to see Mrs Junkie and my kiddo, and get some errands handled. I have a random question if anyone here might happen to know the answer. The DOT allows 400 extra pounds for your weight if you have an APU. Does that only apply to the drives? Or can the steers bear some of the overage? I'm asking because I'm getting a deer guard too, which will also add weight. With an adjustable 5th wheel, shouldn't be an issue, but I'd rather know ahead of time. Alrighty guys, dinner just arrived. As always, be safe out there. Keep the rubber down and check your and check your pins. Peace y'all, catch you tomorrow from home.

Found my way to whitehouse, TN enroute to Wisconsin to take my cdl test Saturday.
Another 1000 mile run... which is great.
Unfortunately in orientation I was told I get all mileage bonuses in training other than fuel bonus. Turns out that is false, so I’m in a salty mood tonight..Airmech and Steelersjunkie Thank this. -
So, I'm not sure what that means. Did you choose per diem? Are you talking about that bonus?
-
I took per Diem for the first year to get two vacations I have planned and payed for. So I figured that pay would offset the difference..
So I was talking about the mileage bonus at .04 cpm the first week as well as the .01 cpm for using my wife’s insurance.
I don’t get either til I’m on my own, yet I specifically asked in orientation or I would have opted out of per Diem..Airmech and Steelersjunkie Thank this. -
That’s a good question without researching I would say the drives only. And getting the deer guard is a smart move!Steelersjunkie Thanks this.

I will respond to this a little further when I get home. Here's what I know, and it infuriates me. All companies, and I mean ALL companies that offer a per diem program are doing the same thing. If it sounds like something you read somewhere else with another company, it is. This is because of the new tax changes. What you're going to see very soon is an increase in companies offering lease purchases. Because the laws have changed, a push has been created for something called a "pass through corporation". It's hard to explain but basically companies will get very real tax benefits by raping employees and putting their families in true financial crisis while seeing no risk on their own income. They'll do this by offering leases. Company leases will allow companies to retain their tax benefits by ##### employees. I love this company. I am grateful for everything they've done for me. I really hope they don't go down the road of lease purchase. I'd really hate to see that happen. Just give straight pay and be done with it. I am in a position where I'll always get my IRS per diem, because of what I'm about to do. There may be a day where that will change, but they would have to change how trucks are amortized. Only time will tell.Airmech and Aamcotrans Thank this.

According to everything I’ve read, it’s steers and or drives. It’s total weight of 400 over gross and axle ratings. Also some states are now allowing it to be 550 over
Vic Firth and Steelersjunkie Thank this. -
Thanks brother

A lease is a terrible option. I can buy new for 2200 a month with around 10k down.
Why would anyone take on a 5000 a month lease is beyond me.. add to that the company dictates your available jobs.
A little thinking will help you see the light.
