I was on a two lane road in Nebraska. When I got to Nebraska it wasn't snow but it had snowed recently. The roads were snow covered. With a layer of ice underneath so ever time I go to stop I kept going.
Then it started to snow. It was light at first then it became heave. I was driving in a complete whiteout at times. Needless to say I was stressed out.
I came up on stopped traffic. The road was shutdown while they cleared two wrecked trucks. When I came up on it was 11 in the morning. They cleared it at around nine at night.
In the mean time the snow had drifted up on me. I was stuck. I know I was stuck earlier. The officials said they would pull me out once the wreck was cleared of course they forgot.
The Sheriff came by and told I was stuck until tomorrow. It was too dangerous to send the tow trucks out. I was stuck just seven miles from my delivery.

You're a much better man than me, for sure. My dad is going where I'm going and he has the wander lust. I have no desire to go to those areas but be does. If I'm required to carry chains in your state, it's a guarantee that I won't be seen there. I'm going to stick to midwest runs. No east coast, ever. And no western runs. Plenty of profitable freight right where I'm at. I salute your hard work, sir.

There was no hard work involved. I just got stuck. I didn't use chains and no one else had them on either. I was just one of the unlucky few to get stuck. Believe me I do not like driving in snow.Steelersjunkie Thanks this.

I don't really get that far West very often.
Steelersjunkie Thanks this. -
I'm so sorry that you got caught in that situation. It must have been awful

Years ago, there was a freak snowstorm on March 1, that buried the Chicago area. I was headed east out of the Windy, got as far as about mile 6 in Indiana on 94, and came to a dead stop. Power was out, or I would have walked back to the truckstop at about mile 4.No power meant they were shut down. I had a daycab, and sat there, from about 3 in the afternoon, til about 12 the next day. Wrecks, people stuck, and just walking away from their vehicles was what happened.

Well, for what it's worth these days.... Today was the single greatest day I've had since I started this job. And, for what it's worth, I hope y'all are happy and safe. I'll never forget this day, and I hope y'all get the best luck/news ever in your future. I may not always be a pillar. But I'll always hope the best for you. If you told me yesterday how this day would turn out, I'd assume you were pulling my leg. Sleep well, Truckerland. Be safe out there.
JoshG210, Airmech, FalconsFan21 and 3 others Thank this. -
