I think I'm probably the reigning champ of inspections on this thread, I've had 3. They aren't bad, as long as your paperwork is in order, and make sure you're doing pre-trips. Can't stress that enough! Every cop will deny they have quotas, but we all know they do. I don't know how they can say they don't while keeping a straight face. I don't know if any state is necessarily worse than any other, mine were all just randoms and they were all in separate states. Yes, a ticket will affect your driving record. And yes, always be polite, a smile and a good attitude are your best weapons. And yes, don't offer more info than what they ask for.

Ive been driving for 3 yrs now and I've had 1 Level 3 inspection at a po dunk weigh station on Hwy 61 in Dubuque IA...the only reason I got the inspection was because a few days prior we had a driver from Millis get in a wreck just up the road (turned out wasn't Millis drivers fault) and the DOT officer told me he'd been told to check a few of us to make sure we were good. We as a company don't get messed with very often. Our equipment is all newer and in good shape , we are on elogs, and we have a pretty good reputation out here now. So unless your rolling overweight, speeding, or driving like a jack ### you will normally be left alone. We have prepass in our trucks for scales and Id say i get the green light on it 90% of the time. The other 10% they are red lighting everyone and even then I get the green arrow to bypass actually pulling on the scale. Keep your truck clean, junk off the dash, and do what you will trained to do and DOT will ve least of your worries out here.JOHNQPUBLIC, Airmech, FalconsFan21 and 1 other person Thank this.

Lol ok so I'm curious what the Illinois guy considers real BBQ??? Believe me Id much rather smoke my own brisket, ribs, or pulled pork but while I primarily am sitting on my ### in the passenger seat with ample free time, havent quite figured out how to fit my smoker in here lmao.Airmech and FalconsFan21 Thank this.

Whoa, I walked down that aisle twice. Didn't learn how to keep my mouth shut either time, so, I'm not the best at giving advice, obviously.
-
Good to know about us. Will do my best to keep that reputation up.
One more thing, on the 8/2 I heard it’s ok by DOT and I heard they’ll gig you on it.
Which is right? Is it ok as long as you have 8 hours sleep berth or did I read that wrong? -
There is something called a split sleeper berth. 8/2 is perfectly legal I use it pretty often if I've had a day I got held up at a shipper or reciever. There are some threads on here explaining exactly how it works if you search for them. Your trainer should go over it also. You'll understand it better once in truck. I know some guys refuse to evee use it, but it hs its benefitsFalconsFan21, Airmech, Steelersjunkie and 1 other person Thank this.
