Independent contractor?

 

Do I dare say yes? Let's not get into the nasties about it. But I been pretty much 1099 the last ten years. Been audited once. I will not be doing it more then a year. I want to know if I can handle OTR life. Plus learn the regulations.
I driven tow trucks as 1099 they didn't follow dot but I learned if I had ever been pulled over I would if been in serious crap! I drove 37 hrs straight one time.
I have my own DJ business registered with the State and the IRS

 

Just wondering, most of those drive away jobs are IC. Good luck with it!

 

Soooo who wants to hear about my day? Start out in Richfield getting a broker load from Sheboygan to Florence KY, and a message from Opie saying dont worry I've got you taken care of for the weekend...sweet! I get to my exit in Sheboygan, and up pops my check engine light with wrench saying SCR fault get serviced immediately or something like that...ugh great...then the road is closed going to shipper so have to take 10min detour around....get there and call shop and their exact words were "get the truck to Green Bay Kenworth immediately dont idle dont shut it off just get it there" ughhhh...call Opie and tell him and he says #### had you set up for 1600miles over weekend...on top of my 2000 already.. mother F!
Take my exit for Kenworth and go to turn down road GPS has me taking "road closed " ughh. I drive down a block take a left to try by passing road closed and every road is no trucks allowed, well #### lol. Call Kenworth they get me over to shop which is directly beside Lambeau Field...2pm Kenworth tells us it will be 2 more hours ok cool, so Opie calls me sets me up with couple runs and will still get my 1700miles over weekend SWEET! Well then at 8pm Kenworth comes tells me it needs a $2200part and 7-8 more hours of labor WTF!!! Call BRF and he says im not approving that, and then few mins later calls me back saying his boss gave they ok, but now Kenworth saying it will be Monday before done...ugh you kidding me! Well its now 10pm and between myself, BRF night dispatch, and Richfield shop we managed to find me a loaner truck and Richfield is on their way to pick me up, so I can still run my loads this weekend....Tell me how many companies would have managed that on a Fri night at 8 30pm? Sorry for the long post. I mean what else do I have to do while at Kenworth for going on 11 hours? Lol

Nothing in the past year Nov 2015 driving in marked lanes
Officer pulled over vehicle was wife's she was under suspension. Marked lanes was his excuse to pull me over.

Speed 9/26/14
Speed 9/17/14 but convictions are in July and August 2015
As far as Ohio is concerned I have 2 pts but those fall off in August.
What Will companies look.at. incident date or conviction date?

 

Im guessing conviction date, but not 100% sure
