I hear ya on those cable seals. When I pick up my load on Friday, I'll snap a pic of the seals that Cummins uses. Absolutely ridiculous. I've never seen anything like them. I had to buy a special cutter specifically for those seals. It's definitely overkill, especially since I always use a gator to lock my trailer. You'd need a blowtorch and a decent amount of time and privacy to get through that thing.

Ok, so a basic tool bag with sheet metal shears and bolt cutters? Copy that. Thank you!

You're welcome. Bolt cutters are kinda optional. I don't have any. Pretty much every receiver out there is gonna have bolt cutters if they regularly get loads from shippers that use bolt seals. It's not a bad idea to have some but you'll be fine without them. Especially at Millis. The only customer I can think of that uses bolts is Budweiser. Every place you end up going with a Bud load will have cutters. But, it's not a bad idea to have a cutter just in case. You can always add that to your bag later if you feel you need it. Just do yourself a favor. Don't get the short ones. Unless you have gorilla strength, those are worthless. It's my opinion (for whatever that's worth) that gator locks should be required by shippers. It would eliminate the need for elaborate seals. And they aren't overly expensive. But what do I know, I'm just a dumb trucker

What are gator locks? Can you post a link? Am I responsible for putting a lock on the trailer? Thanks!

Tell you what, I'll take a pic. I have to go to my truck later to grab some laundry. The term "gator lock" is slang. I honestly don't know what the actual name of that product is, but its fantastic. To my knowledge, and forgive me if I'm wrong, Millis doesn't require locks. I always threw a padlock on anyhow just for piece of mind. I'm not technically required to lock my trailer at Landstar either unless it's required by the shipper. However, I am responsible for the load if someone stole something. I don't feel like dipping into my bank account to recover product because I was too stupid to protect it. I'll post a pic of my gator later today.

Bemis is another Millis customer who uses bolt seals along with Bud. Always cracks me up Budweiser puts that bolt seal on like its some kind of high priority thing, yet miller gives 2 craps if we even put a seal on their stuff lol

Right? I always wondered the same thing. I hauled something a month ago (don't remember what the commodity was) but it was valued at half a million. They required my gator plus a padlock. Now, I love my Budweiser, it's my favorite beer. As much as I love it , that ain't valuable freight. Unless I take it home and throw a block party :biggrin_2559:
