I'm a flip flopper on this one. I think it's pretty cool for those that want a pet in the truck if they'll keep it properly. I've thought about myself, but after a few months it'd be like being married. No thanks.

I just don't see the point of it. Dogs like to run and play and being crated for possibly 11hrs a day, to me, is cruel. Even if they didn't need crated I dont like the idea of a pet in the truck. But thats just my opinion

So your animal, who is already essentially a prisoner in a truck is now a prisoner in a smaller cage. Sounds awesome. Like I said before... truckers with pets are selfish human beings. Animals aren't meant to live like that. Saw a guy with two full grown dobermans in his truck. You gotta be kidding me. What an ahole. Normally I'd say "who's gonna know?" but you guys have cameras.

I see the pros and cons in it, as you guys have already discussed. The crate mandate is too much, though. My parents have an ancient beagle who would love to spend the rest of her days riding in a vehicle of some sort. Her favorite moments are when somebody takes her for a ride on Dad's SUV. But, keeping her in a crate would completely ruin that.

On an unrelated note. I came back out yesterday after some home time, and it's gotten off to a rocky start. I hooked to my trailer, sent my macro 4, got my load info, then went to go check the inside of my trailer and to sweep it out because I knew the shipper was strict about that. Trailer is wet on the inside. ####. Let the shop and dispatch know. It took 'em a minute, but they finally found a place to fix the leak about an hour away. I go, get leak fixed, go to shipper. Shipper (who is normally pretty fast) takes forever. It's getting late, and I'm somewhat solar powered. Finally around 10 pm I make it to the first westbound service plaza on the OTP, and fortunately there's a place to park.

Wake up and go fuel. My fuel stop was less than an hour away (this will be important in a minute) at the Austintown, OH Pilot. I fuel, pull up, go take a leak and print my fuel receipt at the kiosk. No goofing around. Not even any shopping. I come back out to my truck and somebody is behind me fueling. No biggie, as I'm about to leave. I dig around and find my Zantac since my breakfast has given me heartburn, answer a couple of text messages, then realize that I didn't log my fueling. Even though I know I could have just edited my off-duty time, I prefer not to, so I flip over to On Duty/Fueling and sit for about a minute and a half. I see the guy behind me get out of his truck and start walking toward my door. I roll down the window to see what he wants. Of course he's all "Are you done?!" I told him to give me two minutes. He asks "What? Are you taking your break?" I told him that I was logging my fueling because I forgot to, and he starts having a little temper tantrum right there. So I just tell him to quit whining and roll the window back up.

After we get back out on the interstate, I shame him on the CB. I probably shouldn't have done that, but I really, really hate whiney-##* truck drivers, and there sure are enough of them out here. Told him to be sure to get on here and cry about how the mean-old Millis driver wasted a whole three minutes of his life and that I hope that it didn't bankrupt him or cause him to miss an alimony or child support payment.

He had his radio on, too. Tried to say that I was taking break. Got really salty bout it. Wouldn't make much sense to do that only an hour or so into my 14, would it? Surprisingly most of the other guys on the radio saw things my way, and of course somebody had to blame e-logs and Obama.

Now let's see if he shows up here. He can cry me a river, and I'll bring a kayak and snacks.

Doesn't the Qualcomm automatically flop you over to on duty after 5-6 minutes or something like that? Thought it did but been I could be confusing it with the set up my current company runs. Sometimes the brain damage gets to be to much to manage.

@Steelersjunkie Check out who they're splitting the bill with. Should this one ever overflow to the U.S. you need to put together a run that gets you to a show. I'll burn a couple days off to meet up and bring some bail money. I'd love to catch both together. I would definitely travel to see that show.

Mybe we talk @MACK E-6 into continuing his chaperone duties from here to an in person deal so we don't get in to much trouble???

I have shamefully not been to a concert in years. I'll dig through the tour stops and get in touch with you for sure :)

Personally I would've just written down the appropriate times and left. Then edit the off duty time at the end of the day before approving my logs. I definitely see your point about that driver's impatience. But I hate making people wait. Unless you make a bad habit of regularly editing logs, Diane isn't going to say anything. And if you're worried, just shoot her a message on the QC. It was always my experience that she appreciated that.

Diane got a really bad rap from other drivers I had talked with but I have to say she was always great to me. Anytime I had ever screwed something up I could give her a call and explain the situation and she was always happy to take care of it or if it was something I was not understanding took all the time needed to explain it, like when I was trying to grasp the 8-2 split a couple times and wasn't sure what I would be getting back when.
