There's a utility pole at Twin Rivers that I would have loved to take out. Along with the dim-witted idiot who loads the product over there. Hated going there for both the pole and the warehouse moron. That would have made for an interesting Qualcomm incident report if both got wiped out at the same time :biggrin_2559:

    Hahahahahaha!

I haven't been there yet, and from the sound of it, I don't think I want to.

So here's the deal with that place. It's New York. I LOVE running in New York. But I can't run on 90 like you guys, it's too expensive. The drive from Two Rivers to Illinois is a lovely trip. Seriously, it's awesome. However.. know your weight gauge. Get intimate with it. The closest Cat scale is 100 miles away. The first time I got a load there I had to go back, unpaid. And wait overnight til they reopened and the wait again to get unloaded and reloaded. All because the guy loading the trailer was never properly trained and doesn't understand how weight distribution works. I went there 4 times while with Millis. I wish I had video of my last trip in. It was laugh worthy.

Man, it's hard out there for a pimp. Rough week, bigtime. Hope y'all are doing well. Thank god tomorrow's run ends in a weekend home. I need to lick my wounds in peace and drink a beer or 50.

Enjoy your home time! Getting home seems to be one of the more stressful parts of this job for me. I wish Millis had freight or consignees closer to where I live. There's not a lot of van freight in WV, though. Incoming Walmart loads from DCs make up the majority of it.

That's kinda crazy, cuz there's a lot of freight moving in and out of that state. I'm surprised Millis hasn't gotten their hands in it. And actually, there IS a lot of van freight in WV. I'm there fairly frequently for both pickups and deliveries. And I don't touch GD Walmart loads. That company sucks if you're a trucker.

Case in point... I just now lined up two loads. Took two hours but definitely worth the time. Both of these loads have dedicated runs available. One goes right through WV. The other delivers in Martinsburg. I know what my cut is, and it's nice. More than enough for a company to pay a driver plus make a killer profit. Millis would do well to start dipping into Kentucky and West Virginia. There's gold in those hills. And little to no tolls. Just sayin.

Yeah Martinsburg is kind of out of the way for me. Pittsburgh and Columbus are closer. I know there's some freight up and down the Ohio and Kanawha Rivers but I know the stuff around Parkersburg is mostly hazmat loads .

There's 2 different drivers that live near me, one parks in the same lot where I drop my trailer when I go home, that work for US Expressr doing Dollar General loads. I've heard nothing but stories of pain and misery about those, though. Most of the guys that drive a truck and live near me either haul frack sand or drive those straight trucks hauling frack wastewater. They're begging for those drivers but I have....issues... with that industry.

On a totally different note: Does anybody know what happened to truck 7859 and if the driver is okay? I saw it in Albany today and it looks like it got laid on its side pretty hard.

Also, Albany now has a washer and dryer. So yay for that small blessing.

I think you're missing my point. There is a ton of freight near you, but Millis isn't grabbing it. They want their beer loads. Between you and me, it's absolutely garbage freight. Yes, there are people here hauling beer. And they're also complaining about late truck payments, or missing payments altogether. Beer is junk freight, it pays nothing. But it's steady, and it keeps the company afloat. If that works for them, I guess that's all that matters. When I search for loads I have a minimum income per mile that I'll take. Beer loads are literally half of my minimum. Those loads don't even show up on my search results.

When I was going to the school, I was the only student so during road week it was basically just Bill and I riding around Ohio (and sometimes Indiana) in the school truck. We passed by a lot of places where Bill would comment with "We used to pick up from there but they quit because they wanted more beer loads." Personally I'm amused by how much booze I haul around and of course it doesn't matter to me. I get paid the same whether the load gets paid $15.00 a mile or $1.25 a mile.

West Virginia is bound to be a pain in the ### in a truck, though. I've driven on them enough in a car to know that I don't want to be on most of them in a truck. Ironically, when I got my CDL the first time back in the 90s, my intention was to get a job hauling coal.... which would have meant driving a tractor-trailer weighing sometimes 120k (or more) on those roads.
