Question: When y'all run glass from Waco to Albany, which way do you come in once you get to Montgomery? The route software that they use for the Qualcomm says to take 80 to 82 and run 82 all the way across. I did that once.....ONCE. I hope I never have to go that way again. Long and lonely 2-lane roads until you're almost in Albany. Some pretty towns along the way, though.
The way I prefer to go is to grab I85 up to Opelika and then take US280 east to GA520.

I’m probably in the minority here but I prefer the two lanes if there aren’t too many towns along the route.

After 1.5 years with with Millis, going to the last terminal I haven’t been to. Burleson. What am I in for? I’ll be out of hours when I get there tomorrow. Any sports bars close by I can Uber to?
Just unloaded /reloaded in Memphis. Driver notes say ya can’t park here on weekends to do your 10. I asked the guard about that on my way in a bit ago, she said it’s fine. Blues City Brewery won’t run you off if you’re out of hours. Haha, she said, “baby, you just park over there on the left after you reload. We’re here 24/7.”.
I’ve not had very good relations with the folks here in the past. Something has changed here. I was unloaded/reloaded in 1.5 hours tonight.Steelersjunkie Thanks this. -
You been there all this week? We've been on Memphis to La Crosse all week. Things have gotten better there it seems. Hell we got there Weds night at 6 3pm for a 5am Thurs appt...got put in the door immediately and got out phone call at 8 55pm. I was in shock lol. We'll actually be heading to Memphis Sunday with re load to Rochester.
As for Burleson Im sure there is somewhere to go by Uber. The terminal itself really doesnt have anything near it. There is a Texas Best Smokehouse and a Sonic within a 10min walk, but as for sports bars Im sure Uber would work. -
It's not too bad, really. There are a few spots that are a little rough, but overall it's decent. If you're heavy, it can obviously present a problem. The thing I like about WV is that businesses are set up, for the most part, around accessible roads. That is a very glaring difference between WV an PA. I hate PA. Not only are the roads tough for trucks, half the places you need to get to use toll roads. On top of that, there's no easy way to go anywhere. I'll take WV all day long. Plus when I'm in PA and looking at the load board, all the available freight is either going TO or picking up FROM destinations I won't touch. Philly, Baltimore, NYC, Jersey, DC, and New England. If being close to Pittsburgh is good for you, there is plenty of stuff in Wheeling and Glen Dale. I get good loads out of both of those towns. If Columbus is good for you, plenty of freight comes out of Parkersburg and Charleston. I get loads out of or delivering to all of those places. My loads aren't hazmat. I try to avoid them unless I'm desperate for a load. The only spot I mentioned here that is a bit of a hangup is Glen Dale. There's a BP facility there that is cranking out a ton of freight. But....you need a tanker endorsement to haul it. There's a good run out of that place that gets me home. So I'll be getting that endorsement while I'm here. If you and I ever have a chance to get together, I'll show you what the load board looks like for WV freight. I think you'll be surprised

You know that drop lot that you drive through to get to the shipping/receiving office? I've done 10's there more times than I can count. Never had an issue. I don't think I've ever been to that place and not seen a Millis truck parked there with the curtains pulled. Tell you what, it's a very peaceful place to sleep.

I'm jealous. I want in on some of this La Crosse <-> Memphis action.

Well, you're definitely in for a very dusty truck. Count on that. If it's wet outside, count on a muddy mess inside your truck. When you pull in to park, go to the left. If you go to the right there is a real nasty dip from water runoff that will dam near throw you out of your seat if you aren't expecting it and you're moving too fast.Last edited: Sep 29, 2018
