The top bunk has a cargo strap, like a net. It's not uncomfortable, I've strapped into that a couple times because of where we parked on occasion while I was training. My trainer was a fan of parking on ramps. At Landstar that'll get you fired if you get reported. They don't play around with that. I never sleep on public land anyhow because it's open game for the DOT. So no rest areas and no ramps. This is the one area where I will disagree with @keen98 and that's hygiene. My trainer was a mammoth of a man. He did relatively ok I guess in that area but 400 pounds is 400 pounds. There's gonna be issues. There's also a lack of trainers. Now, I've met Keen and he's a fit guy. But trim guys are a rarity out here. Truck drivers are apparently allergic to salads and skipping meals. Like I said in my previous post. Go people watching at your local major chain truck stop. You won't see truckers like me very often. I'm 125 pounds when dripping wet and wearing boots. I'm not a germaphobe but I am definitely paranoid about hygiene and offending people. You might smell smoke on me, but otherwise I smell like a rose. You'll probably have to deal with changes out here. But like I said, getting your own truck will change your world. It's a marvelous thing.

Oh I agree there are definitely hygiene issues in this industry. It just seems that here every trainer I have met has been(seemed?) Fairly clean.

With that said @BullDozer-( you have to understand showering every day while with a trainer will not happen. Its best to expect every other day. Also learn to shower quick because my student and i will stop in the middle of the day on our 30min break and shower. Thats 30min to walk in, shower, and be back to my truck. Im an ### hole on time management and its something I take very seriously. My students learn this very quick. 30mins means have your ### in the drivers seat watching the QC to tell us we can leave. Morning time if I say we are leaving at 0245 my truck is leaving at 0245. Have your #### done and ### in seat ready to roll. Minutes in this industry matter.

My understanding was you could be in the top bunk as long as you were secured in (netting or some other type) but I could be wrong on that.

I'm sure I'll be able to handle it. Just give more of an incentive to get the 15,000 done safe and as fast as possible. I'm 135 lbs. And never have body odor for some reason. Even when I sweat. It's weird but I don't mind. Have never had to wear deodarant In my life.

It depends on the company. There are definitely companies out there that have that policy for safety reasons. But no company is the same as any other, they all have their own preferences.

Man I don't miss that at all. I loved Opie and was grateful for the trips, but that time management thing and always being stressed out about minutes is something I'll never miss. #### all that. When I left I got a call from Reid letting me know that they were talking about opening up opportunities for O/O again at Millis. I wasn't supposed to mention it, but it's been 8 months now. If it was gonna happen, it would have by now. Promise you one thing, no dispatcher is gonna give me a schedule that stresses me out. Those days are gone.

LOL I am itching to chime in about training but I will wait until its over and I get my own truck.
Going back out on Monday really looking forward to it. Worst thing about this week off has been my wife for some reason has added things to her honey do list that needed done 5 years and now are a high priority. Its fricking 20 degrees outside and now is when she wants me to put new gravel down on the driveway!!!
