Yeah, I definitely understand that. But running solo is a different animal and I know you're familiar with it. That's the major thing I had an issue with being a company driver, and that's chasing miles. Miles don't matter anymore. If Reid ever gets back to me, I'll jump at a good offer. But I haven't heard from anyone in Black River. And If I get an offer based on mileage, that'll be the end of that dream. I want to come back as O/O but Icould already tell that they were leaning on a pay schedule based on miles. Lol hell no. The load I'm picking up is getting me $5 per mile before Landstar takes their cut. That doesn't happen on a regular basis but it happens. companies need to get it out of their heads that mileage is a good pay structure. Percentage is king. Miles can kiss my narrow white behind. Grab better freight, refuse low rates, pay on percentage. It saves money in the end. Fuel is the most expensive cost we have out here, bar none. Make it count.

I do have this to say about Millis the company. They really do invest a lot of time and money into training us new drivers. When you add up the hotel, food, school costs, then the pay during the training, also the extra pay they pay the trainers they are not skimping in any way shape or form. Just guessing but before we newbies even deliver our first load I would have to think Millis has around $8000 if not more invested in us.

Yup, Millis is the bomb. I no longer work there, but that's my home. Aways will be.

Oh man, as far as smell and hygiene go, that was my biggest worry coming into this thing. I truly can't stand nasty people and sadly the trucking industry is chock full of some of the worst offenders. I'm 6'4", 200#, former military with an athletic build from a white collar background that also moonlighted as a nightclub and wedding DJ in the District. Frankly, I was a womanizer of the highest order and you don't get there by smelling or looking bad.

My first day with my trainer, I opened his passenger door and nearly lost my lunch. It was awful. My trainer, bless his heart, is NOT a small dude. He hasn't been able to touch various parts of his body in decades and the smells I regularly catch a whiff of are a testament to that fact. It was so bad on thanksgiving day, I had the window open all day and the temps never got above 20 - I'd rather freeze to death than smell whatever it was I was smelling.

I told myself when this started that I can deal with anything for 5-6 weeks, just tough it out, get it over with as quickly as possible, and that's what I continue to tell myself every day.

As for top bunk sleeping, good luck. Between the spring ride trailers and air bags in the back of the cab, combined with Illinois' ####-you road paving plan (among others - looking at you Atlanta & NJ), I've actually been floating in mid air several times, hoping I land back on the mattress safely. Falling off isn't the big concern, it's banging your knees and elbows on the bed frame. Overall, it's marginally better than passenger seat neck pillow sleep.

I just got off the phone with NASA. I asked them about the yellow thing in the sky.
He said it’s called the sun. Who knew?

Hey, I've been meaning to ask... anyone know who's in 8050? That truck was parked at my TA for a couple days. Just wondering if they're a local.

Find it amazing that anyone sleeps while truck is moving. I passed out in passenger seat for about 15 mins or so last week but that was after being up for about 23 hours.

Wow, man. That description is awful and unfortunately I just sat down to eat :biggrin_2554::biggrin_2552: You are certainly being a lot more congenial about that odor situation than I would have been. I'da been out of that truck so fast I woulda made a gazelle jealous of the speed. Gross. I can forgive a lot of faults in people but that ain't one of them. You are a far better human being than me.

@keen98 and @Goobr54 I'm thinking about you guys at the moment, and he frustrated you would probably be with me right now. I'm sitting in a killer bbq place right now and I'm getting one of the only things on the menu that isn't bbq. A cheeseburger lol. You guys probably wanna punch me for saying that :biggrin_2559:
