I've got a buddy the just quit his job as a yard dog for a major brewery, not mentioning the name. Apparently this is happening a lot. He was making fairly respectable money I guess (for a local job) and his company's contract got underbid by a company that came in at $15/hour. Unreal. You can't live on that, man. You can't even begin to live on that. So he's gonna go get a welding job so he can remain local. Breaks my heart. He can't go OTR because he can't stomach being away from his family. Can't say that I blame him.

MIT Thanks this. -
Yup, I hear you loud and clear. I love my people, until I'm home.Suspect Zero Thanks this.

No local outfits he could drive for?
-
Nothing that will result in much. Local runs drain your soul. They'll run your 70 dead and send you home long enough for a 34. And slowly bleed you until you wish for death. Hard pass. My truck payment costs more than most house payments. Pass on ####ty pay.Last edited: Mar 11, 2019

Come work in the LTL sector. You’ll learn a whole new meaning of “garbage freight”.

We define that usually as heavy oversize crap going to private homes needing a liftgate to unload. -
There's a quote I love from a children's book series I love. Higher up and further in. The more I learn, the further I go. I'm just not sure how much I wanna know. My next move will absolutely be my last. Beyond that, y'all can keep it.Last edited: Mar 12, 2019

Do you drive a wiggle wagon?

I have. Still do once in while on weekends.

Right on. Seems like a lot to deal with.
