Granted I’ve only been around Millis now for about 7 months. But I have never seen so many trucks at Richfield. Which really doesn’t bother me, hopefully all those ahead of me on the list get Deere loads.

The company guideline says you earn 1.5 days off for every 7 days out. Generally speaking 2 weeks out but nothing is really set in stone. They are flexible which is one of the reasons I'm here. Some stay out 3-4 weeks or longer by choice. Within reason a lot of it is up to you.

People ask me about this all the time. My answer is the ever so vague "Depends on how long I feel like staying out."

Through the winter I was coming home every 14 days. There was once I think I was only out 9 or 10 days and they got me home on short notice and it wasn't even an emergency. It was just that I had forgotten that there was something going on at home that I wanted to attend.

Seems the more popular ways to run is to stay out 3 weeks or a month, and Millis will happily accommodate that.

I think he was referring to Steelers new gig not Millis...

That should be fun. Also from the way I understand how those gigs work, they're low mileage but high pay. Right? So you get paid to sit instead of putting more wear and tear on your truck.

I've thought about getting my passenger endorsement and trying my hand at driving rental tour buses like some of the smaller bands use. But I dunno. I'm not sure if I really want to get to know the business side of all that. Concerts for me are supposed to be fun. Not work.

I'm back in Raphine at Smiley's tonight. Cheers!

So they finally got me loaded and billed-out around 0130. By then I'd had a 10, but I had only slept maybe 30 minutes before they called me to put me on a door, so I slept by the guard shack last night. Today was a fun run. First time I've driven the entire length of I99 in NY and PA. Very nice scenery. Also my first time taking that shortcut down US522 through WV and VA. That was enjoyable too, in spite of the Virginia portion being about as hilly and curvy as 220 south of Roanoke, which coincidentally, I will be driving tomorrow.

No requirement as far as I've been told, but if I had a 3 month tour I'm gonna stay out. The bands get to know you, and the tips at the end make your jaw drop. No point in leaving. Plus I'll be close to home during travels so I can pop in along the way. If I need extended time, I'll grab an extended show (like a musical or something) playing in Cleveland or Pittsburgh or something. The guy who recruited me said his last tip was 10k cash, and he's had as high as 15k. If I choose to sleep in my truck instead of hotels where the bands sleep I get $150/night and that is typically cash as well. Meals are all paid for via craft services, two meals a day guaranteed. I'm not forced to take the long runs but of course those pay the best. If I choose to work, like stage help and such, I can. And that's extra money in my pocket. Tolls are covered, and there's a FSC as well. It's not as high as I'd like but I can live with it.
