Hope everyone's day was better than mine. Spent 7.5 hours at a new Mendards store in Terre Haute, IN to have 6 rolls of carpet and 1 pallet of floor tiles unloaded. They are stocking the store and there were over 15 trucks in front of me when I arrived. We all had to line up on a side street and wait for the next open space at their gate. Many more trucks pulled in behind me. Blind side docks too on a brand new store.
I ran out of hours at the dock and had to PC down to a nearby Loves. Was suppose to deliver the 2nd stop of this load a few miles down the road at their DC here today but that isn't happening. The final stop is 6 hours away in Wisconsin. Made a lot of detention pay but am now way behind on the rest of this load and for my next load down to Alabama by Monday.Last edited: Aug 9, 2019

1st time for me delivering to a new store. When I pulled into the area and saw the line of trucks lined up on the side street as I headed for the gate I knew something wasn't right! -

More good times for me. Picked up my preloaded trailer at JD in Horicon. Uninspected for several months, no hub oil in one wheel and a tire all pocked marked on the tread and ready to separate. Can't blame that on anyone else but SOME of my fellow drivers. It was uninspected for 3 months so probably dozens of drivers have handled it in that time frame and either ignored it or never looked. Hub oil was gone because the seal was blown out and it all leaked away. The tire was obvious and did not just happen and was not caused by a yard jockey.
I've been getting stuck with a lot of bum trailers with major defects lately and getting pretty sick of it because I know I am cleaning up someone else's mess. Some may be yard dogs doing damage on our dropped trailers but a lot are not and this one definitely wasn't.
For those who blow everything off or don't even check in the first place, some day you'll be sitting on the side of the road with your trailer on fire or being handed several tickets from DOT and all that time saved by not doing your job won't be worth the consequences. -

Bleh. Thought I was gonna stay at the Brasleton Pilot and deliver in the morning. I guess everybody else had the same idea. FULL at 10:30 am.. What a friggin joke. I ended up backtracking to the Commerce TA. Not really a fan of this place either but at least there's parking.
