As long as you keep your idle time below 40 percent they wont say anything about idle time. They also understand when it is hot you have to idle to keep cool. During the winter we have espar heaters in the truck that burn diesel to keep it warm and they will cook you out of the truck if you turn it up high enough. Usually during the winter you shouldn't have to idle till it starts getting down into the single digits and then you only need to idle to keep the fuel from gelling up on you.

so in a week timeframe(7 days) in the dead of winter or in the heat of summer...
what does 40% really mean when it comes to idling? 40% a night/day? a week?

Say you stop for the night and get 10hrs of sleep....can you only idle for 40% of that 10hrs? Just trying to learn as much as i can....thanks to anyone who can help me understand this.

the qualcom records the hours the truck has run for that week and it can tell if the truck is driving or idling.

I have all my stuff ready to go, pshyical, cdl permit and everything that is on the list, is there anything extra anyone can help me with that i might be forgetting. Maybe this is a dumb question but how important is the rain gear. For flatbed I can see because of strapping down and unstrapping, but dry vans does seem to be outside all that much. I logged timber and bought logs so I'm very acustom to the weather, I learned one thing carry extra one of everything.
