SICK'EM DIRT!!
TRUCKINWVA -
Are Millis drivers at more risk for "trouble" on the road because they haul alot of beer?
Some people do crazy things when beer is involved.
Just curious.
Thanks -
I would imagine most people would be in the same boat as me, especially as there is also no indication at all on their trucks that they are hauling beer.
I didnt even know what a millis truck looked like, turns out they are everywhere i look in the chicago area, it helps that i live by I-57, 394,I-80/94, 294 all within 15 minutes either direction i go.
Anyways i'm gonna feel good knowing im delivering an american staple to the american people --lol! -

i remember in our previous tough times truck jackings happened... i know some parking situations are not very optimal security wise, so i just was a wonderin. Y'all probably dont have to park at many dollar general lots after dark tho.
So how is dealing with breweries and distributors all the time? -
breweries arent to bad since 99% of time we just drop and hook i think in the four and a half years i have worked for them i have only live loaded 4 times. distributers are a different story though some are real good to go to and some really would prefer not to go back to. for the most part they are just like any other customer some good and some not so good.

Don't get too comfortable in the fact that Millis doesn't advertise the fact that they haul beer. While even though it's been quite a few years ago (say 2001-2002 time frame) I had a breakdown in Hershey Pa. I had to go to the TA there to repair the flex hose coming off the turbo. The shop insisted that I drop my trailer because they didn't have room in the bays for trailers. I dropped the trailer in the first spot next to the garage and even had a pad lock on it. In the short time my truck was in the shop I had someone break off my lock and snatch one of my load locks and a bunch of beer. Trucker know what Millis hauls and they are not always the most honest people. Millis didn't give me heart burn over it though. Short of sitting on the rear bumper of the trailer in the middle of winter there was not a whole lot else I could have done to avoid the theft.

A few weeks/months ago the Millis section was booming, lots of guys heading off to training n all...sharing their experiences........ then poof, dried up.
I am hoping some of these guys stop in and update now that they are out of training and out on the road!
anywho, I did have a question, probably been asked before, but I know the Millis website says about their garunteed hometime, but what is their hometime? like 10 days out 2 days home, 14 days and 3... whats the breakdown Millis drivers.
and i do appreciate your efforts here on the forum, but i think Millis is probably one of the top 2 or 3 co's in my list for training and employment as a newber! So if you got any info that would be of interest here for a newber, we do appreciate it! THANKS!!! -
there hometime is for every 7 days out you can take 36 hours off but they are real loose with it if you want to take more off they will let you. for the past few months i have been going home every weekend and not had nothing said about it. when i stay out longer i go gome every other weekend and i am at the house on friday morning till monday morning.
