i was one of the ones let go and like the other guy, i already had my cdl. and believe me when i say there is nothing on my record to unqualify me from working with millis. no accidents in 5 years no traffic violations in 15years no dui's ever no felony no criminal record I believe (and this is just my thought)that millis gets some kind of kick back from the goverment when you get you cdl through them. educational grant type of thing. i know alot of them get something for hiring vetrans that have recently got out. Even if they let us go for some legit reason, they should have told us what it was. that way i could have gotten it fixed. but MIKE MILLIS himself said we were let go due to low load volume or some ##### like that. if that was the case why not let the guy go that cant even drive a manual transmission. im just ranting now, its in the past. all i want is my 500.00 back i tried to call today to see when i would get it. no one will talk to me. keep getting put on hold. i finally sent a e-mail. i hope i dont have to get my lawyer envolved in this. and yes i do have a lawyer.
Dirt - The best I can come up with is that it was that you already had the CDL. But it doesn't make sense why they dragged you all the way up here just to send you back. I agree completely that they should have told you the reason, or better yet, just not wasted your time. Good luck with the $$. I'll give you a call soon.
Ok, I can say this. When I went through in October of last year we had one guy that allready had his cdl and he went all the way through the school. Of course our 500 was waved to. all I had to pay was 100.
Not to sound smart or sound like your mother, but it ended up costing you $2,500 to figure out you didn't want to drive a truck every day? You should have thought about that before you started brother. Hope you have another job lined up. So then after 100 weeks with Millis...or a little less then 2 years...you owe them nothing? Not too long ago it was 1 year.
well, no snot sherlock. Really there is nothing you can say, that I haven't said myself. I spent several months on this forum and talking to drivers, but you never really know until you try. Not looking for any sympathy, my mistake, my dollar. As far as having another job lined up.....I didn't have a job when I started. The cost of the training is one of the questions that comes up when people are looking at Millis, thought this may answers some questions. Take care and stay safe.
I would love to look at this from an optimistic point of view, but I'm a realist. It doesnt sound like Dirt got a call from Mike or Jazz and things didnt work out quite so well for him! Dirt, did you two guys go with the perdiem or non perdiem plan? Do you think that could of had something to do with it? Neither the slow freight nor the CDL excuse sounds right to me! Freights been slow for over a year now!
I've been researching Millis for about 3 years now, and have read on other web sites about people that had their cdl with no experiance and have successfully gone through MTI without a problem. I have actually been thinking about getting my cdl before I go to Millis, because that would be one less thing to worry about and out of the way. Sounds like that is out of the question now. Hey Dirt, do you have your cdl with experiance or just a recent grad from a school? What they did to you really doesn't make any sense. They do state on their web site that they don't hire recent grads...where as other co's. that do, you go through an orientation, out with a trainer then into your own truck...but to me that shouldn't matter, as long as you to go through the whole MTI course and pay the $2,500, even though you already have your cdl. The only thing I can figure out is that they receive some type of grant for every person that successfully completes the course and receives their cdl through MTI. But i'm sure you let them know ahead of time that you already had your cdl...right?
