as far as the city is concerned they give you a hundred dollars to deliver there but it is not forced dispatch. they do have certain drivers that like to run there or don't mind it and they generally do it. if you just cross the gw bridge on you way up to Conneticuit they don't give you anything extra though only if you are delivery there.

srick didn't know you got canned how long ago was it. do give you credit for being honest and not doing like some of the other ones that don't say anything and just leave them for somebody else to deal with

Well, just finished day 3, and so far so good. It's all been review so far due to the fact that I JUST got my CDL a little over a month ago, but no big deal. We've had BOTH Bill and Greg from the Ohio and Georgia schools up here teaching us along with Harold and Mike Millis has been here all week so far.. They're leaving tommorow.. oh well guess it's just us and Harold now.
But tommorow we're starting out in the truck.. oh yeah btw if you're at the Richfield WI Terminal.. in the winter time.. watch the stairs going up to the driver lounge.. they can get pretty slick and not look like it.. (slipped on monday, twisted ankle and knee, it sucked) oh yeah and for the ice hanging from the roof.. it's pretty precarious up there. -
I went to sage/isothermal PTDI in spindale and recieved my cdl's already. Can I keep doing the PRE-TRIP that I learned there or will I have to go through the whole process of learning another PRE-TRIP according to MTI???

Thanks spanky. I guess that's a fault of mine, I'm to honest. although i wish they would have listened to me instead of firing me. If someone pulls out in front of you or blows a red light because they think your a slow truck and not running 55 or 60, what are you supposed to do? run over the car or hit the brakes?

risen75, any further updates?

Yep here's my update.
Finished orientation yesterday, waiting for my trainer to show up today (sometime this afternoon, crap i still have to buy a few things b4 he gets here)
Anyways, I've been through one class before down in indy back in Nov, so i had something to compare it to. It is fast paced and you have to cram everything into 3 weeks. but the instructors are all really cool, and seeing as how the classes (all three campus') are held at active terminals, not only do you get the expertise of your instructors, but, if you're outgoing you can talk to some of the current drivers and so far I haven't found a single one that wasn't willing to impart some of their wisdom of the industry on me. Just remember.. listen to the instructors opinions first and the drivers info.. well.. we'll leave it at that.
As for the company... from what i've read on here, spoken with all the drivers that I have, and the instructors and adminastrators of the company, This is a GREAT company to work for. I mean, yeah there are the normal truckers complaints... but none that have been specific to millis, to think about it.. I didn't really hear ANYONE complaining about ANYTHING the entire 3 1/2 weeks I've been here.
But it has been fun.. now that I'm going out with the trainer today... I'll try to keep you guys updated on the entire training, but i'm not sure how much i'll be able to, hopefully we'll be moving enough that when i get down for my 10 hr breaks.. i just wanna sleep
Adios for now and keep it rubber side down and trailer behind ya. -
This is for the MILLIS drivers that have been running awhile. Are the MILLIS dropyards & facilities pretty easy to get into & what are the tightest places anyone has been in FOR MILLIS??
-
all the yards are pretty easy to get to the one in eden nc is probally the worst on account of the hard right you make to get on the road that goes to it. not sure of the tightest place i have been to but there is a place in york pa that is so tight you can hardly walk between 2 trailers sideways and if your not centered you will hit the trailer next to you
-
Thanks spanky, do you run up into PA, Chicago???
