Ok. So I've been on here for a little while waiting to hear back from a few options. I applied to several companies with in house training and have narrowed it down to these two. Roehl and Millis... Now I've been online here and online looking at their co. websites. I know they are there to paint the best pic possible. I'm going to ramble a bit here, but please hang in there and give me an honest opinion at the end.
I've driven class B before and know what the OTR life is about. That choice is made.
I have read about the criteria to get hired on by each company. I have to go with a training company and it is the best choice at this time. That being said. It seems to be coming down to these things:
    I'll start with Millis

They only run Dry Van and mainly east of the Mississippi. I only have to come up with the 500 down on the school 3 weeks there. Then out with a trainer first 3 weeks is paid 500/wk weeks 4&5 paid 550/wk and if needed weeks 6 thru 8 paid 600/wk. Then after that if I take per diem which I think is smart for the first year for simple reasons of vacation- 1 wk after 6 mos. 2 wks after 1 year. .27 to .29 depending on what mileage option I choose. Then the website says bonusses on mileage over 2000-2500 .03 / 2501-3000 .04 / 3001-3500 .05 on laoded miles Plus safety bonus. + 6 holidays paid $50. (this is all with the per diem. I know that if I take non per diem it is .32-.34 cpm and goes to 1 year for 1 week vaca
I can go to my doctor here and get my DOT card. Training center is in Ohio, only 5 hours away from me. (might be able to make it home a little during training.

    Now Roehl
They have Flats, Vans, Refer, and curtainside.
    They run nationally
    475 and 185 up front.
    .33 cpm FB- .30 cpm vans / .32 cpm refer /
Vaca 1 week after 1 year...
The training center is in WI which is 12+ hours away. Training pay is very similar. Go to the traingin center to get the physical done. Plus they have their own physical requirements above what the DOT requires.

I was interested in flats, but then again I leaning toward Millis simply because there are a lot of positives that I like. Being close to home I can come home during the school to keep things in order with my family. The fact that I can pass the DOT here and know for sure and not have to do it there. Money paying out is a big one too. I did not mention health insurance because I am covered through my wife's plan. I am looking for you guys to give me some input too.

    Thank you in advance!

If I had to chose myself I would go with millis. Based on the info I have gotten from this forum, they seem to be the better of the two.

Here is the first paragraph on their website... thats where I got dry van...

"From coast to coast, through all 48 states, Millis Transfer takes pride in ensuring every load will be handled safely and delivered on time. Our highly trained team of drivers are dedicated to ensuring the safety and promptness you deserve. A dry-van truckload carrier servicing customers across America, Millis is committed to quality every mile of the way. Millis' commitment to quality has not gone unnoticed by our customers, many of whom have awarded us "Carrier of the Year" awards."

I seem to change my mind by the minute. I think that as long as I can keep a positive outlook on things through the year I will be ok at either place. I'm comitted to that! Again keep the info coming guys and girls! I need all the help I can get... lol
