my mbn is only 760k miles, still didn't do rebuild. Only placed new water pump, thermostat, rocker arms on cyl 3, and seal for front cover.

Not trying to dump on you, but take some caution and talk to the guy for a while before wasting 20Gs there.Rig Wrench and Honey Joe Thank this.

Unless if a driver has skills to rebuilt their engine.

No, no offense taken here: I don't have experience using that shop, couple friends have rave reviews of the work done there. I can't speak to $ charged/being worth a certain dollar amount, only that folks I know have had worthwhile experiences there. I don't know anyone that works there, nor have I run anything they have worked on; just offering a lead to a cat shop in the area.
id be interested to hear if you've had a poor experience there: you've shown me you know what's what in what you've shared on this forum. -
I've had experience there. Pm me for info. I think I know what Cetane is tryin to say

Have you tried any dealers? I know it sounds crazy, a friend just had a c16 platinum kit done at Northeast Kenworth of Albany(western star truck), happy with the results. Same warranty from cat, just a bit cheaper than Milton.
Wherever it is,check around first. A lot of scammers and hack artists.Honey Joe Thanks this. -
No, I haven't contacted any dealers. In fact I did stop by Northeast Kenworth of Albany when they first opened up to check it out. Posting a thread on Truckers Report seemed like a safe bet
to get honest feed back. First time going thru a rebuilt, trying to avoid "scammers and hack artists".

Sorry for the late response. It all goes back to when I had some work done on my old dump by the other guy that started out with "king of the hill". That dude might have some great knowledge but, the way he hammers and hacks everything was scary. So not so impressed. Now when I first got my current C-15 I called and talked to the current owner of "KTH" and how he was describing what he would do as far as a "tune" for the ECM was not kosher. His system was basically change trim codes, and some other back yard tweaks. Once I found out what the trim codes are and how they work, I will never talk to some one who has plans to do that kind of "tune". I like all my cylinders to run with as close to the same amount of fuel as can get, with normal injectors. Its just after working on my crap for years, when someone start talking about the wrong way to go from the start, red flags go up. He very well may do good work on some engines, but I cant mentally deal with the work.Honey Joe Thanks this.
