As far as appearance goes, lettering is actually a big one. Decent lettering is not expensive... there are dozens of sites online that will cut top quality 3M lettering, or even reflective, for the same as you’d pay for those silly mailbox letters.
Bottom line: look professional.

Depending on what a guy wants and how fancy he gets, I think my vinyl lettering signs cast me something like 30 bucks a set. I get them locally and usually they can have them ready the next day after I call them in. I have them mounted on removable aluminum plates with my numbers on one side and the company I am leased to on the other, so I can just turn them around when I need to.
