Four years after I started trucking I found out DAC was showing my 1994 misdemeanor convictions as felonies. In 2000 I leased my truck on with USXPRESS. I told them about the misdemeanor convictions. About half way across the country in Dallas I was told to drop my load then deadhead up to Oklahoma City to the yard there. When I got there on Friday afternoon I was told I was fired for lying about my criminal record. I had to wait til Monday, call the courthouse in Cali and have them fax my court records to USXPRESS to prove that I was telling the truth. I lost three days of work and 250+/- miles of deadhead that USXPRESS wouldn't reimburse.
Double check every step of your court case with your attorney, and make sure to ask questions if you don't understand any of the proceedings. Frequently check your DAC, because if they F it up, you'll get screwed later on. And finally, never get on the bad side of a DA, because they'll make life miserable for you. I hope none of you go through what I went through.![]()
