By the way My hubby finally got a job. J.B. Hunt hired him (knowing he had a warrent) for intermodel running from chicago into wisconsin. He brings home roughly 850 a week for 5 day work week. Also Bigray his warrent is non expeditable so as long as he doesn't go into the state his warrent is in he is fine. I know 850 isnt much but it is enough for us.

I can tell you money does not bring you happiness (does'nt hurt) but at the end of the day it is your additude that will take you a long way and make you happy. Again glad to heare your hubby is working best of luck.

I am looking into getting into a trucking school but unfortunately due to my bad decision making and mistakes I have 2 domestic violence charges 2006/2007. I am having the worse luck getting into any school. I was sentenced to anger management classes and once I was finished in both cases I requested to have these cases set aside and they were. Any suggestions or knowledge of any trucking companies that will allow me to attend their training?

Contact a lawyer and see if you can do anything to get those off your record.

Anyhow, there is one plus: You won't have to go to canada. Haha.

Whatever you do, do NOT lie to the company. They will find out. If they find out, you will not get a job. You may even get fired if they find out after they hire you. But if you tell them, they might be OK with it. Some companies dont care, and thats usually either very small companies that do not advertise, or very big companies that have to set their standards very low to get employees (because they suck). Big companies like Werner, JB, Swift, Schneider...the ones that if you sit at a truckstop entrance for an hour, you'll see atleast 10 of their trucks come in or leave the truckstop... Those places.

Also, you generally can't get a trucking job if you have any pending court dates or if you're on probation currently. You don't, right?

That said, trucking sucks. The industry is screwed up. Hundreds of thousands of highly experienced drivers are jobless, yet people like you are in demand, because of government grants, etc. Why is that? Is that really the kind of place you want to work for? Shouldn't an experienced driver be more in demand than you? Truck driving schools are also a huge ripoff, but in most cases you'll have to go to one. But if you're clever you can get out of it.

I'd suggest looking into other professions. Skip trucking. 90+% of people who go to truck driving school today will not be driving trucks a year from now. It's not what it seems. You might make a lot of money, but being paid by the mile sucks. You stay out for weeks at a time, but you come home and you have to miss a paycheck. I'm not saying that you should be paid for not working, but that does SUCK to miss a paycheck. Especially since most companies end up paying you a week behind, so you get the $0 paycheck after a week of working your butt off. Great feeling right there.

And besides the job itself sucking, consider the law enforcement you will deal with on a daily basis. They view us as rolling ATM machines, basically. I don't know if you know much about the logbook yet, but you might run 100% legal, and draw a line wrong one day. Don't catch it cause youre tired. Get a huge fine for it, even put out of service for 10 hours depending on what it is (costs you money from not running).

And yes, this post is basically 100% negative. I think there are a lot better oppurtunities than trucking. But there are positives about trucking. Being on the road, I've learned that it truly is a small world. I've lost some phone numbers for other drivers, and like..a while back, I just happened to meet up with the guy that basically taught me to drive a truck. Totally random. A couple weeks ago, I saw a guy i went to truck driving school with. Weird. I even met Hugh from Ice Road Truckers at a fifth wheel truckstop in Cornwall, Ontario. And my trainer at werner met Alan from The Hangover at a cheap motel in Las Cruces, NM....i didnt meet him, but they were filming a movie in the area, and I am positive he was telling me the truth because when we were leaving, i saw a minivan going down the highway slowly, full police escort, and movie cameras sticking out the back with the hatch open. Interesting...

Small world, huh? So trucking can be neat. But it also sucks.

    Hey Phroziac,
I was sentenced with anger management on both cases. Once I finished these obligations I then went back and requested to the judge to set aside these cases in which he did. When these are brought up in public record searches or however the trucking companies do their checks they are coming up as guilty. When I go to the local court site and do a search it shows as being court dismissed. I contacted the necessary department to get that changed so I am working on getting this changed.

Congrats! Is he still working for JB Hunt Intermodal? I know someone who did runs in Texas. We know another trucker who can't go into Florida nor Georgia becuse of a warrant which non-expedite too like I have read in your other posts. My bf makes about 1,000 or a little less a week. but he's home on the weekends unless they want him to run a load to Cincinnati or Indianapolis. So you live in Wisconsin? You must go to Madison and Milwaukee a lot. :biggrin_25514:

Go N.A.F.T.A. . I'm so glad that Canada has no crime, no socially disadvantaged people who get exploited by their gov't in an effort to maintain a status qua acceptable to their nations elite !!
