a company mechanic told me that it was due to bad transmission mounts..??
yeah, supposedly by doing this we are applying just enough pressure over time to wear out the shifter components.
it could be very possible to knock it out of gear, but i think many of us would at that point put both hands on the wheel, and try to steer out of it..?? -
if you had been doing things properly since you started driving, it would have all been second nature to you
unless you were shifting gears, about the ONLY time you should be in neutral.
yes, please be sure to do so, and by the way, was your sealt belt fastened as well..???
that's right, don't want to add more misery to your agony now do you..??123456 Thanks this. -
Only a truck driver could give us 3 pieces of misinformation in 3 sentences!I am medicineman Thanks this.

Rerun,
You're allright.
Keep us informed !!!!! -
Classic example of people making statements that don't make any sense, both statement and your response.
Guess this quote just goes perfectly with this thread...lol -
well let's see, many years ago when I TURNED wrenches, if a car owner had a manual transmission and made the complaint of the transmission popping out of gear when hitting a bump, i too would check engine mounts and transmission mounts, and guess what, the transmission mounts would be worn out...so....um.....let me see......mechanic was wrong in what he told me, and from what i had worked on over the years...HHMMmmmm
here is a website for car repairs and transmissions popping out of gear.....don't you think the same is possible for a truck as well...???
http://www.caranswer.info/maintenan...harp-left-turns---Maintenance---Repairs-.html
now resting one's hand on the shifter (as told to me as well) could in time, wear out the shifter fork as we are applying undue pressure...it ain't gonna happen overnight, but "in time".....
and a classic response just before a crash is grabbing onto the wheel with both hands...
and apply the brakes...classic normal responses in a soon to be crash...Last edited: Feb 5, 2011

i really hated to have to do this, but here it goes.....
as per the CDL manual, "General Knowledge Section 2 sub-section 2.3 "Shifting gears"
meaning, "free wheeling or coasting" meaning being in "neutral, not in gear"..... meaning ultimately, not in control.....
a truck found not to be in gear (at the accident scene) would be an indication the driver was not in control at the time of the accident.....again, the black box will also back this up.....scottied67 and chompi Thank this. -
In case you haven't noticed nobody cares what your manual says.I am medicineman and Gearjammin' Penguin Thank this.
-
well then in that case, no one can argue anymore than too.......if its in a CDL manual you can not dispute it.....it ain't hearsay....and it ain't MY manual, its the CDL manual all states have when requiring a permit to drive....Buckeye 'bedder Thanks this.
