Unfortunately, the training school teachers and trainers are like a "GOD" to newbs and they absorb and repeat EVERY thing they are told as being gospel!

    What a pile of poo!

Considering most of the time to be an instructor you do not need any extra training or certifications. It is not surprising that bad habits and misinformation is being passed on. Not slamming you RR, I enjoy reading some of your posts.

I like the "anyone can be a truck driver" one. Yep! We'll take anyone, felonies, DUI's, ex-cons, major physical handicaps, dumb as a stump? Come on down and learn to make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. Heck, you don't even need to be able to read or write to fill out log books and know the regs. Just claim ignorance.

I down shift going down hills...Case in point was going into l.a. 2 days ago on I-5...I ended up in 6th after going up in 8th and starting down it in 7th...I couldn't keep the speed down in 7th without constantly hitting the brakes...WS made sure we knew how to downshift going downhill with a fully loaded truck, they used Black Mt in NC for that training...It was a great confidence boost knowing "IF" you made a mistake, or incorrect initial decision, and used to high a gear you weren't destined to just hold on, burn up the brakes and pray for the best...

And this was something my school instructor said we should NEVER do...

1)yes, you leave the truck in the gear you were in......

2)you can move the truck, IF it is able to be moved.

    3)the investigation will determine that

    4) after interviewing you, this will also be determined

    5) you are incorrect.

    1) yes, meaning the driver was NOT in control of the truck

    2) see number one

    3) depends what school they go to.....when they go to my school they get taught the right way.

no, not a GOD, some of us are as dedicated as possible in doing the job right when we teach...it's up to the students to do things right once they graduate and continue thier education every day

actually, i hold state certification by the Board of Governors for Higher Education, Certified by my state DMV, and National Safety Council Certified, and CVTA Level 2 Certified as well.

    read below

i just need to "end quote", no response to your posting....soorry.......lol

this from a CDL state manual, i highly suggest anyone still in school or anyone with half a brain, get such a manual and read in the manual what i will put here:

General Knowledge, Section 2, paragraph/section 2.6.1 "Stopping Safely", page 2-14

The effect of speed on stopping distance.

Whenever you double your speed, it takes about four (4) times as much distance to stop and your vehicle will have four (4) times the destructive power if it crashes.

now, it's right there in the book, that SOME OF YOU had to read in order to get your permits...

so in effect, you are driving a missile down the highways.....

i will stand by my comments, and by my comments regarding the DOT for checking your transmission to determine if you WERE IN GEAR before the crash, also, let's remember, many (if not all) trucks have a "black box", which the DOT WILL plug into and read out ALL your truck was doing before the crash, think that won't tell them you were not in gear, and UNDER CONTROL...???

No, a truck and a "Missile" do NO WHERE NEAR THE SAME AMOUNT OF DAMAGE!!

    Here is an actual "Missile"
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SuniKsBxZ10

Here is a "TRUCK CRASH". Please students notice the absence of an explosion and a resulting crater. Also please note if the actual "missile" from the above video was shot in the 2nd video no one would be around to show the tape.

If any of you actually believe there is NO DIFFERENCE then you should advise the military. Especially since you could buy hundreds of tractor trailers for a fraction of the cost of a real missile. We could just launch them at our enemies.:biggrin_25526:

    Keep spreading the BS guys.:biggrin_2559:

You know I did some thinking, maybe you guys are right. I bet we didn't drop A-Bombs on Japan in 1945 it was just 2 fully loaded tractor trailer missiles with recaps, left out of gear!!!!!!
