Yes. You pay $99. they give you another background check I think. Your license doesn't suspend until it's done or anything. I just suggest getting it done at least a month before it expires.

When I go in 2017 to get my license and hazmat renewed I'll pay about $200.
75 for renewed cdl
8 for air brakes
8 for tanker
8 for doubles triples
8 for hazmat
99 for background check. -
I dropped hazmat in 2010, since I'd never needed it, and always figured I could test and get it again if I did. $220 to renew in North Carolina in 2010 - Class A with doubles and tanker, so hazmat would've been an additional $94 on top of it, plus I can't remember if NC counts an "X" endorsement as a single endorsement or as two endorsements, but, if not, I'd be paying for the additional endorsement, as well.
Switched it over to Colorado the next year.... $35. -
Florida counted my hazmat and tanker endorsement as two separate ones. So they may do the same
