G.Anthony, Well said and well taken. It proves that we all need to slow down and look back so we can plan the best course for the future. After all we aren't here forever. Thanks again.

    G.Anthony Thanks this.

kemosabi, I too hope that your sidelined condition is only temporary. A few phone calls is not going to hurt either way.

zenaddler, Thank you for your response. You also make a lot of sense. Temporary positions would be Ok if I could control the re-entry costs. I'll keep it in mind. Happy Holidays.

My dad is 76. He still works 2 days a week delivering auto parts.. he get out of moms hair, drives around town delivering parts...shooting the #### with the guys in the garages where he stops. Drinks his coffee, gets some fresh air and makes some pocket change.
Maybe stop by your local truck repair and see if they need a runner or assistant ect. Maybe work the parts desk, or service desk.... who knows

ncmickey, Your reply is well taken. It is a good way to satisfy the urge to drive again and still be home

I was thinking service desk. With your experience you could be a good service writter.

ipogsd, Before I began driving in 1969 I used to be a service writer for a Dodge auto dealership. A little different than driving but great to be able to relate with customers.

You can always get a driving job that doesn't require a CDL. Around here there are a lot of jobs for sprinter vans and cube vans, no CDL required, some offer part time

i retired with 44 years otr, same problem what to do with myself, got tired of judge shows and you are the father shows. started driving a school bus has been three years now and have not missed trucking. if you drive one of the older buses you will be reminded of the old spring ride trucks you use to drive. plus the kids will grow on you even the ones that get into trouble. it has worked out good for me. lots of luck in your retirement

I know of an 80 yr old still pulling containers for a local outfit, I think you can handle it but why would you want to? When I hit 60 I am done.

    Skydivedavec and G.Anthony Thank this.
