Missouri Tornado Discussion!

Just checked my emails and this was in there. Not sure if it was posted before now or not.

A total of 116 people are confirmed dead as a result of Sunday's tornado in Joplin, Missouri, city manager Mark Rohr says.
That means the death toll from the Joplin twister is tied for the second highest in the United States since the National Weather Service began keeping such tornado records in 1950.

 

Just got over the scanner National guard is in Joplin, Police are coordinating.
Its probably old news by now, but though i would update anyway.

 

Joplin is only TESTING storm sirens right now..
so if you get reports of them going off, dont panic.


I'll be out most the morning, have to do some running, but will check in when i can.

for those members in Joplin... Tyson's food is hosting a free-cook out to everyone... go to the lowe's parking lot... also there is 4,000 free sandwiches to be had over at the Save-a-lot parking lot

Just had a news conference at 5:00pm CDT. 122 confirmed dead. I "think" they said 1500 unaccounted for (not necessarily fatalities... but folks with whereabouts unknown). 8000 structures damaged.

One of the larger manufacturing companies in Joplin cannot account for 14 of their employees.

Spent the day cleaning up my workplace. Total mess with bricks and roof shingles everywhere sustained from wind damage about a mile north of the tornado. Still nowhere near conducting business.

Another round of nasty weather is headed this way. Should be here in about 1-2 hours.

 

I am praying for all the people there in Joplin! Also praying that most of the people not accounted for will show up!

headed to Joplin vicinity The scanner said that officers would use PA to warn people there of high winds and conditions.

Shelters are Freeman hospital ( Cafetera ) . Memorial Hall and JPD main building

 

lots of tornados in ok. 4 confirmed dead in el reno -most of these super cells are headed north east. I pulled off in okema as one touched down in shawnee.Storms seem to be losing power the farther east they go.

 

It's 9:18pm CDT... just starting to sprinkle in Joplin. Fairly strong lightning to the SW.
