Ok I would appreciate any advice on this folks. I am going to school in October for truck driving school. My record is clean up until today. I made a mistake and accidentally backed into another car. There was an accident report but no ticket. How much difficulty is this going to cause me? The other car was parked illegally if that makes any difference.

Well that may have some affect on you. "backing" into a parked vehicle illegally parked or not is a "preventable" accident. As any trucker or company, they will agree. Seeing as how no official ticket was give nit may have no affect at all. BUT you should check you MVR in the next few weeks to make sure if it's on there or not. If it's NOT on your MVR you should be ok if it is on your MVR you will have to list it on any application you fill out, if you dont list it and it is on there you will be considered as lying on your app and will be eliminated from any possible job.
When you consider that backing is the most important part of your new job choice and it is where a vast majority of preventable accidents occur companies place ALOT of importance on it. When in doubt G.et O.ut A.nd L.ook. You will hear GOAL said to you so many times bythe time you are done with orientation etc...that you will come to resent the statement but it will save your bacon big time if you do it.

    Good luck be safe

it will show up on a DMV report as an accident. hopefully, it will not adversely affect you, (but IT IS very recent) you had better be more careful from now on, your future depends on it.

It all depends on the state and the police department. Some will put it on your record ticket or not, some wont, some will keep it reported local system only. To the OP..... Your best bet is to keep checking your MVR before you fill out the app for the company. If it shows up you better make sure its on your app. If not then I would not worry too much about it. for an accident to show on your MVR it should take 7-14 days. If its not on there after a month I would say your good.

Why not call the issuing authority and ask them if it will appear on your MVR?

as stated by someone else, it depends on what state you live in, but his i do not believe. all accidents show up sometime. to the o/p, it might take "up to" 60 days to show up on your record. get a copy of your DMV report in early november. no sense in wasting money this early on for a report. you could however go to the ploice dept and get a police report, this you MIGHT need when the trucking companies inquire about your accident. they may want photo copies.

and to "land shark", maybe you ought to get a fresh copy of your DMV soon as well. you DO NOT need to be ticketed to have an accident show up on your DMV report. if a cop shows up, takes a report, that gets turned into the DMV. Then many states require that a person fill out a state accident report with-in 10 days (my state) if there are injuries or more than $1,000 worth of damage. we need to verify we have insurance, proper license, registration for the vehicle, as well.
