Not taking what's loaded in your trailer in consideration with how fast you can bend a turn. High profile loads should be slower than low profile loads.

Or worse; killing the engine with the jakes while sitting on the scale. Obviously years ago, since there aren't too many weigh stations left that stop you on each set of axles, nor do you run across too many trucks these days that you can kill with the jakes. Embarrassing. Another one I did was forgetting to turn off the jakes and catching it just in time, stab in the clutch and get it running backwards. It takes a second or two before you realize there's exhaust rolling out of the air cleaners.

Well, I secured it, but was too lazy to build a bulkhead in front of the oiled square stock, a mistake I realized when I had to get on the brakes hard due to an idiot in front of me. Had to get a wrecker to pull the errant bundle back onto the trailer enough so I could get it to the yard and restack it with the forklift.

Learned experience is the best experience. At least you know that'll NEVER happen again.

You can bet money on it that it won't.

I've only seen the old two stroke diesels do that. Some of these guys don't know how a screaming jimmy runs.

Haha, I had a student do that at the Evanston, WY/UT POE one night way back in the early-'90s. Not only smoke coming out of the air cleaner but the truck now had 10 gears in reverse. :biggrin_25513:

See my last post. The truck had a 3406B Cat in it.

I never seen it happen but not doubting it could. I've seen the 318's do it when the driver almost stalls the engine on more than just a few times. It was with dump trucks in the field where they had to go off road.
